Mokona Nitpicker is back

I went manga shopping today.

- TRC 11
- XXXHOLiC 7
- CCS 1, 3, 4, 5 (because the editorial is changing prices next month, so I need to finish this collection in June; one to go)

Also, they're releasing a new edition of The Sandman in small issues (like, two chapters each). It'll take me three years to buy it that way, but it's still cheaper than buying the old edition, so hard to find. Man, is the earlier art fugly.

Furuba will have to wait next month.

Meanwhile, the TRC volume had an omake talking about the crossovers and compiling an incomplete list of sorts. However, what got me was this part:

"The link is Mokona=Modoki a creature Yuuko and Clow Reed created one day, with two bodies, one black and one white. It's like a communicator between worlds."

Er. AFAIC, and that's a lot, you're just making a fat supposition. I see no tangible or implied evidence in any canon that we know of that both Mokonas are the same creature split in half or something. WTF.

aren't you confusing the children with daddy?

I was hoping these people knew nothing and had just being a little extra creative. However, they DID know Mokona's real names (Soel and Larg), so they really did research. And one of Tsubasa's two translators is the lady in charge of XXXHOLiC's translation.

This is what I think it happened. The other guy translating Tsubasa, who has nothing to do with HOLiC, is the one in charge of CLAMP no Kiseki. I'm sure he already read the Soel and Larg story at issue #10 (which is the upcoming CnK, by the way.)

I think this guy wrote that paragraph and, maybe having no clue about HOLiC and the Mokonas except from what CnK says about it, he just misunderstood it all.

...Or he just made it up. Whatever.

And we don't get CnK here. T_T I would have bought that one, at least.

But it still breaks my brain. If he did read that story, shouldn't he have noticed that they aren't the same? They talk about missing each other and everything.

Oh well. After Spanish!OotP, I gave up on understanding most translators.

Awwww, if I were more wealthy, I'd buy you that one and send it for you. So you'd have the story and the Yuuko black queen.

I'll still type here the interesting text parts for you ^_^

I guess I can still hope that one of the most specialized stores will import them. I'll go and search them anyway in July, I'll be in Buenos Aires and I have to buy my HOLiC (I'm still missing 5 and 7...)

Awww, thanks ^_^

Seven was just released this month, so don't be rushed over that one.

It's a good thing there are no translator's notes or omake sections at HOLiC.

Mmm. Maybe on my next travel...

It's a pity, really. The notes at Ivrea's CCS translation were really good.

The CCS Spanish version was shitty. And the pages were flipped.

It's sad the Spanish branch of Ivrea won't release mangas I care about. I was hoping they were the ones who had licensed FMA in Spain, but a friend of mine with contacts just told me it looks like it's Norma. Great, 8€ each.

The Argentinian CCS had flipped pages, too (they said it was because they didn't want to confuse young readers, they usually keep the Japanese reading order). Honestly, I don't really care one way or the other.

Crap, I didn't know about FMA. :( I bet they'll bring the really expensive Norma edition here too.
