I'll Wiip over here ;_;

My brothers just got their Wii and their Zelda. And I can't go over there today. Or any of these days. I weep.

Gamecube version on sale the 15th. That's next Friday. Nnng.

Speaking of cool things happening next week, British people with cable can watch Hogfather, based on the Pterry book I haven't read yet; hell, is it even in Spanish?, next Saturday and Sunday. Of course, that means I'll be checking out the torrents :D

And these advent calendar videos (click on the "12 days of Hogswatch" tag) give me such good vibes! Death (yes, Death!) is the host and interviewer so it's all made of win. Oh, and Teh Pratchett is interviewed a couple of times, so you can't miss it.

Speaking of Discworld, and for my own control, here's my list of read books.

The Colour of Magic (1983)
The Light Fantastic (1986)
Equal Rites (1987)
Mort (1987)
Sourcery (1988)
Wyrd Sisters (1988)
Pyramids (1989)
Guards! Guards! (1989)
Faust Eric (1990)
Moving Pictures (1990)
Reaper Man (1991)
Witches Abroad (1991)
Small Gods (1992)
Lords and Ladies (1992)
Men at Arms (1993)
Soul Music (1994)
Interesting Times (1994)
Maskerade (1995)
Feet of Clay (1996)
Hogfather (1996)
Jingo (1997)
The Last Continent (1998)
Carpe Jugulum (1998)
The Fifth Elephant (1999)
The Truth (2000)
Thief of Time (2001)
Night Watch (2002)
Monstrous Regiment (2003)
Going Postal (2004)
Thud! (2005)
Where's My Cow? (2005)

Rincewind series: 6
Witches series: 2
Death series: 3
Watch series: 1
Others: 0

I just read as I find them. Order be damned.

I started with the Rincewind series, but I'm branching out as I can. I like all the series, actually. I thought I was going to dislike the Watch series the most as they're (kinda) the less supernatural books of the lot, but with just one book I was sold. I really enjoyed Men at Arms, it was witty.

You've read so much more Discworld than me! *envies*

I read The Light Fantastic, Wyrd Sisters, and Pyramids. And I started Equal Rites last night (so much looove!). So yes, order be damned. XD

I'll envy you back because I can't find Equal Rites on paper and I've searched for it D: Most of the books I've read are from the library. I only own four of those (Colour of Magic, The Light Fantastic, Mort, and Wyrd Sisters.)

You should watch Hogfather if you can download it, even if you haven't read any Death book. It looks awesome. And from the videos, there's going to be a lot of Unseen University on it (yay!!)

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2006-12-09 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I'll definitely watch it (and I didn't even know they'd air it, so thanks for the tip!). Death is so awesome, and Unseen University = ♥ I just can't get enough of stupid wizards.

I've read 19 Discworld books. :D

The Watch series is my favourite of the Disc. But Monstrous Regiment is really good too. I truly reccomend MR and Thud! and Night Watch and basically anything with Vimes in it. But for Thud! and Night Watch the other Watch books should be read first.

My problem with the reading order is that I read everything I can find on libraries or bookshops. Therefore, I'm sort of following the Spanish translations as I'm not in conditions of importing that amount of books from the UK at the moment. So I'm doubting MR, Thud! or NW are at hand for me to read D:

I have pdf versions of every discworld novel. The italics don't seem to work all the time and the footnotes are weird but everything's there.

I can email them to you.

Oh, I have a lot of e-books, but I don't even touch them. I couldn't even finish Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and that's a short one.

Thank you anyway ^^

I've read most of these, especially the Death series, because I ♥ Death. Hogfather is DEFINITELY worth a read for the Christmas season. It features Susan, Death's granddaughter, after all. The Truth makes marvelous fun of the newspaper industry, Going Postal is an entertaining read, and Thud! is one of the better Watch series books.

Darn, now I need a Discworld icon. That series is awesome.

Yup, I know Susan's in Hogfather *just swallowed a lot of making-of videos, after all* Granted, I've only read one book with her (Soul Music), but she rocks.

I don't think I can read the book unless I find it on e-book, but I'm definitely watching the TV movie. I think it's better watching before reading this time, as I won't be nitpicking from the original canon. So exciting!

If I can download this and screencap it, I might be doing icons, hopefully in time for Christmas :D

[personal profile] pleonasm 2006-12-09 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Sweet on the icons. (And of course if you'd read making-of, you would know Susan was in it, I don't know why I assumed you wouldn't -.-";;).

I agree on the watching before the reading. I always nitpick Harry Potter. *has just outed herself as the ultimate nerd, darn it*

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 10:22 am (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] suikascented.livejournal.com 2006-12-10 11:22 am (UTC)(link)
