80% of the stuff I like has aliens on it, trufax

In less than a week, I've had two molars removed. The second one couldn't be fixed, so out with it. I'm paying for years of neglecting dental consults with blood, sweat, and my family's cash. Fucking dentists.

On the bright side, I'm conquering my fears. I still dislike the pinch a lot, though.

Oh, and I bought Elite Beat Agents. Damn, so entertaining and weird -not as weird as Ouendan, but what can I do. I've finished all the missions in the easy level, but I'm working on improving my levels and scores before attempting anything harder (the last four songs were bitches to follow, and it was the EASY level).

I've been watching some comedy series recently.

1. Spaced
British, short episodes, two seasons. It's quite funny, and geeky, and cute. It's kind of slice-of-life but with crack. The characters are so quirky, and I like that a lot.

2. The IT Crowd
British, 30-hour episodes, one short season. This one was recced to me by [livejournal.com profile] hamsterfactor. It's The Office meets Monty Python meets Internet memes. Even geekier and more batshit than the previous one. Can't wait for season two.

3. Gintama
Anime, outgoing like the Jump shounen series that it is. I've already talked about the manga and that I've liked what I read. So I tried the anime, and it cracked me up as much (and sometimes even more). I've only watched what's been subbed, and it's great. All the characters are great but... strangely enough, I've developed a bizarre crush on Zura Katsura :D Funny: I thought I'd be more into Shinpachi (he is cute, and I'm amused when he's all Watanuki on people, but Katsura is such a crazy dork~).

What else? I've started reading The Count of Montecristo today, borrowed from my uncle.

Also, I doubt I'll migrate any time soon, but just in case you want to friend me I'm kirisame everywhere:

kirisame @ GJ
kirisame @ IJ.

Oh, and I just remembered I'm also kirisame @ Twitter, but I always forget to update it anyway.

So... what the hell *is* Twitter? I keep hearing about it and no one gave me a proper explanation yet.

In theory, you make tiny posts several times a day, saying what you're doing at the moment. I'm way too lazy and multitask-y to use it properly, though, so I abandoned it after three days.

Oh I love Count of Monte Cristo. It's my favorite Dumas Book. XD

I've been wanting to read it for years, but I could never find it in libraries or bookstores on a cheap price. Ironically, my uncle had it in Caracas all the time, and I noticed when his stuff was shipped to here. I also have other classic books to borrow.

If you like Count of Monte Cristo I recommend Les Miserables (if you haven't read it yet). Besides both being thick books they both share some similar themes. Although Hugo goes off on historical tangents but both series have very compelling main characters.

I'm not sure I'll like LesMis, even if it's the same genre. I watched a TV miniseries once and I couldn't get into it. (Granted, the only adaptation of Montecristo I've seen was Gankutsuoh, and that wasn't... entirely faithful to say the least, and even had the LOL ALIENS WTF factor.)

If I ever find a copy to borrow somewhere, I'll give LesMis a chance. Perhaps reading the book, the characters would seem actually developed and less annoying.

[identity profile] kirarakim.livejournal.com 2007-08-03 11:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Gankutsuou was great but I think the book is much better. I actually don't like the Count as much in the anime but other characters are given larger parts in the anime (like Albert, Eugenie and Franz).

I never saw any TV version of Les Mis, only the play which was good but didn't do justice to the book. And I actually think Jean Valjean is one of the most developed characters in literatures so I wouldn't judge it by a miniseries.

lol Elite Beat Agents looks like a fun game...! If only I had a DS.

Woo! Gintama~ The anime is so great.. even the parts they changed from the manga are really funny.

It's episodic and cracktacular -some missions more than others, though. The song choice could be a bit better (seriously people, Sk8r Boi?!)

I still haven't read enough of the manga since almost all I've seen around so far are raws (same with the anime, actually; the subs are so behind!) But I don't know, as much as a purist as I might be, this series is one of those you have to see in anime because it begs for color and animation and sound to make things lollarious.

Hopefully, now that other funny/parody shounen have been licensed recently in Spain (Yakitate Japan, ES21, BoBoBo, Keroro Gunso, Reborn), it's a matter of time until the Gintama manga arrives here? I so want to own the volumes.

I'm glad you enjoyed The IT Crowd~! :D

I'm watching Black Books now. Three seasons, six episodes each. Weird totally neurotic guy called Bernard Black owns a book shop and acts totally batshit crazy. Plus a crazy woman with a shop next to his. Plus some guy who somehow ends up working for him (who is, coincidentally, Tim's boss at the comic shop in Spaced) and who's quite crazy too. Nonsense stuff ensues.

I swear, I love Brit series ♥

It was hilarious. I really wanted to see more. Besides, there's the, um, cliffhanger which was just... special in it's clichéness >P (OMG the boss/Goth vampirish guy is canon WTF?! O_o XDDD;)

So downloading Black Books :D Sounds promising! Thanks for the British crack recs ^____^

I'm adding you on Twitter! <3

I'm thinking of a back-up GJ as well--I have one, but I don't really like the username anymore, heh. Or maybe a Wordpress will do, if LJ decides to really make me mad again one day and I become fed up with it. o_o

Be warned: I NEVER update XD I just forget about it.

I used to have a couple, but one was for my original fic, and the other got gazillion icons bahleeted from the server and now I'm all dead images. I hope that if the mass exodus ever happens (I hope not, I'm comfy here), it won't be to GJ.

Sip, a mí me gustó Gankutsuou.
