taotrooper: Plastic toy aliens stare at you in wonder (LOL aliens!)
Seems like LJ is well today. Give me more characters?

→ So the Level E anime ended, and I have no idea about anyone else (haters gonna hate gif goes here just in case) but regardless I LIKED IT. Spoilers )

→ Watched what's released of Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica like 90% of anime fandom. FELT LIKE CLAMP ON (MORE?) DEPRESSING CRACK BUT WITH MOE ART. I don't even. But it was worth it because I've seen some photoshopped parodies everywhere and now I can understand them! Yeah, guess I'm watching this for the lulzy factors, which is doing it completely wrong. I mean, I do feel so sorry for the girls but if I get focused on the plot I'd die inside.

→ I'm really excited about Doctor Who because of the trailers.

→ Wow, the Thundercats remake is going to be a lot more epic than the original series. I'm honestly looking forward to it!

→ Okay, we're going to Madrid in the end, from the 12th to the 15th. We won't be able to go to a lot of places because of time + money, but it's something anyway. I feel bad about this but... ) But eh, at least I'll see baby pandas and statues of Roman gods! Besides, there are THREE geek shops a few blocks from the place we're staying, so let's see if I can buy at least one or two shiny things! Too bad we probably can't afford Cirque of Soleil.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kurow / the little dude)
You know why I disappeared for the last few days? My Okamiden copy arrived on Wednesday, two days early again :D Still not finished, though.

I feel very dirty for saying it, but going in with very low expectations this game is going much better than expected so far. I MEAN, there are still WTFs and all, but I have yet to find a butchery that makes me throw my DS to the wall and raegquit. If anything, I like that Benkei's quest for fish makes sense now and they even throw a reference to the original legend. Yeah, I'm all for tiny details. But they better justify the Tao Troopers' disappearance or I'm cutting a bitch! They're also giving me brand new Moon Tribe canon I need to mull over.

The stylus as the Celestial Brush is the best thing ever. Too bad about the d-pad controls and the camera being horribly awkward, but it's still hella fun. It's good that there's a skip button for cutscenes, but the automatic scrolling text is such a bad idea (sneeze and you missed a line).

Oh, and I fucking love Kagu! Kurow was a given because me likes the lunars, but this girl is so amazing.

I think, if I do a reaction post of it, I'll save it for the second playthrough. Pokémon is very straight-forward, but I always end up overthinking Okamiland stuff and I want to play more quickly.
taotrooper: Plastic toy aliens stare at you in wonder (LOL aliens!)
FUCK YEAH EUROPEAN DATE FOR POKEMON! It's official, I'll be broke on March because of NDS video games. I think I'm not trying 3DS when it's released, because I'll be too busy with other games.

So anyway. I watched the first episode of Level E, not knowing what to expect besides LOL ALIENS. I liked it enough, I was intrigued by the plot (?) so I go and read some of the manga, and.

And.

I'm stopping right after chapter 3, overwhelmed by the turn of events and saving it for when the anime ends. I'm not spoiling anything, but my God, it's been a while since I've been so trolled by a manganime :'DDDDD That first episode is quite misleading, I think that must be the whole point.

Derp, I'd say that LOL ALIENS sums things up nicely...

PS: OMG, and Koyasu is going to voice Craft!! THIS WILL BE HILARIOUS. Also, he keeps haunting my recent anime but I honestly can't complain!

PS2 OF WOE: 3DS WILL BE REGION-LOCKED ;______; *cryingdawson.gif*
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Waka / pretty fly for a moon guy)
[livejournal.com profile] outou pointed me out that Pixiv is an effective place for spoilers. On one hand, now I know what I wanted to know. Good, it's not the worst option! It gives me more questions, but they're new questions at least! On the other, now I know the particulars of the thing I vaguely heard they were going to pull, and I think I didn't want to know about that one. The implications of both facts is very D: to the point it's eclipsing my distrust of the game itself with just... staring at angsty fanarts of Japanese fanon forever. Like Waka didn't have enough of those already.

So I guess I'll have to pull my big girl panties and...

Eshiro, you do hate everything I love. But hey, I made a silly animated gif!

And now I'll shut up about Okamiden, at least for a while. Spoilers will surely be in comments, instead of being a normal gal and use a cut.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Anise / fangirling)
So, Doctor Who season 5. Took me a while to watch it whole. My thoughts are summed by this gif:

AND I LOVE EVERYONE! ♥

And I'm NEVER touching the fandom because River is my fucking favorite.

Oh, also? Waiting for Ouran 81 is PAINFUL.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Waka / about to strike a pose)
Let's begin with the headcanon meme with a half-baked prophet.

Waka gets his own post because his is paragraph solid and plotbunnilicious. And no one was surprised... )

And because I have no self esteem lately.

taotrooper: A girl is laughing evilly, maybe yelling something like I AM THE MELON LORD (Toph / LULZ)
1. Snakes on a Plane

This popped on TV while I was in the living room, and I was all "no, don't change the channel, I want to see how bad it is!" But yesss, finally watched it and let me tell you, in the end I was disappointed because the lulz were less than advertised. It can all be summed up in my family's conclusion, but sadly it's too Venezuelan to be translated while maintaining the pun:

Mom: ¿Ya se terminó tu culebrón?
Me: ...ahora que lo dices, esto tuvo más culebrón que culebras.

Meaning there was too much character drama and too little snake scenes. But eh, at least it was worth it just for the scene where the grumpy old man throws the valley girl's chihuahua to the anaconda's mouth, or when they break the windows and the snakes go flying. These will be printed in my mind forever! XD (what? it's a glorified B movie! I can spoil something like that, can't I?)

2. Lilo & Stitch

I knew I'd like it because of the quirky factor, and because I just can't resist stories with LOL ALIENS (and this was the whole point, mind you). What I didn't expect was this moving breaking my heart to the point of sobbing. I think this became one of my top favorite Disney movies.

Also, are the sequel and TV show too toxic? Because I want more, and I vaguely remember seeing some episodes like a year ago when I had the Disney channel combo, and didn't seem that bad by then.

ETA: Egg.

Adopt one today!

Adopt one today! Adopt one today! Adopt one today!

Images seen in Twitter and LJ flists:

1. Cute LEGO Stormtrooper is cute. I awww'd, even if it should be sort of funny/sad.

2. I see the Dragonball live action movie looks as LOLastic as usual, but why am I not surprised Piccolo isn't even green? He looks like a, um, a vampire! *rimshot and joke about Spike goes here*

Other strange flist alignments relevant to my interests happening in the last 24 hours:

3. A couple of CLAMP fans remembering Shin Shunkaden (Legend of Chun Hyang) existed and complaining about never knowing who her father was in the end. And still, we're the weird ones because the whine du jour was supposed to be about X and Lawful Drug or something.

4. Two friends getting into Apollo Justice at the same time. And both of them nodding in favor of my ship. Makes me feel somehow vindicated! :D Yesssss, more sane people! And yes, I might be a horrible person for introducing others to Ace Attorney through AJ, who at the same time introduce others through AJ. But hey, that way it's less painful, if you still haven't met Maya and the Edgers, and they'll avoid the usual comparisons between generations. Besides, most of these friends do it in order to understand our RP's AA cast (I'm to blame we even have one), and they're all post-timeskip so far.

Either way, yesterday made me feel less of an oddball.
taotrooper: Plastic toy aliens stare at you in wonder (LOL aliens!)
Spoilers for a current blockbuster film. Can't reveal the title without making you shit bricks, so if by the icon and tag you can guess it, come on in! But don't whine if I spoiled you, since this is one long warning I'm typing here. )

Will make a real post later today.

ETA, hours later: Ahahahaha, and it just popped in fandom!secrets XD

...LOL

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Velvet / royal crimson)
I remember reading about this at [livejournal.com profile] pengiesama's plus some jokes about Valentinian royalty descending from the Moon Tribe from Okami, which FITS THEM SO MUCH, but I completely forgot about it till I got this text scroll at Cornelius' book:

The founder of the [Kingdom of Valentine] is said to have come to [Erion] in a flying ship from another world. At the time, Valentine's magic was far more powerful than any other nation on the continent, and it rapidly gained control of over two-thirds of the land. One of their unique magics was the ability to [make magic stones]. With the [Cauldron], a giant magical furnace, they had technology that enabled them to [store magic power in stones].

...LOL. I love it when a canon pulls UNEXPECTED LOL ALIENS on me. Particularly when the things coming from the aliens happens to be the point of most of the plot, or the more doomtastic part of it at least (the Crystallization Cauldron, the Ark of Yamato...)

Hell, even Zelda (remember Majora's Mask? the aliens kidnapping the cows?) and Elite Beat Agents pulled aliens on me. And in books... Good Omens? The other books with aliens I have read were pretty much the premise of it. Same with manga. And you could argue, back to videogames, that the royal family of cosmos on Katamari are some sort of aliens god-like beings (no, really, what the fuck ARE they?).

Now I feel like rewatching that Monty Python sketch in which everyone in Britain is turned into a Scotsman.
taotrooper: Plastic toy aliens stare at you in wonder (LOL aliens!)
1. How to survive an alien attack, or at least according to Hollywood. Awesome. Oh, and there's a new YGO Abridged episode out!

2. By the way, in an amazing withdrawal from actual supernatural stuff that doesn't involve TRC happening in XXXHOLiC for, like, months, I went and finished Petshop of Horrors, including what's been done of the sequel. I loved it, it's pretty creepy ♥

3. Speaking of PSoH and aliens, there's something I want to ask to all of you who have a better grasp of Japanese folklore than me. Is it really true that the Japanese used to believe in an immortal race/group of beings living on the moon, apart from the infamous rabbit preparing mochi? I mean, I do know the Kaguya-hime myth, but not every variation mentions some others than her living up there. So I started to wonder it because my google-fu is failing me, and I see no other mentions anywhere besides that and one Petshop dialog. And well, this manga isn't exactly accurate mythology wise...

Yup, this is actually an IMPORTANT question o_o An RP muse, several plotbunnies, and a character shrine depend on that knowledge!

4. Cutest TCG ever!

5. Taken from [livejournal.com profile] haro: Provide a character/characters and I will Sort them into a Hogwarts House. I'll also try to explain why and maybe talk about their ~adventures~ at Hogwarts.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kero-chan / Addiction)
In less than a week, I've had two molars removed. The second one couldn't be fixed, so out with it. I'm paying for years of neglecting dental consults with blood, sweat, and my family's cash. Fucking dentists.

On the bright side, I'm conquering my fears. I still dislike the pinch a lot, though.

Oh, and I bought Elite Beat Agents. Damn, so entertaining and weird -not as weird as Ouendan, but what can I do. I've finished all the missions in the easy level, but I'm working on improving my levels and scores before attempting anything harder (the last four songs were bitches to follow, and it was the EASY level).

I've been watching some comedy series recently.

1. Spaced
British, short episodes, two seasons. It's quite funny, and geeky, and cute. It's kind of slice-of-life but with crack. The characters are so quirky, and I like that a lot.

2. The IT Crowd
British, 30-hour episodes, one short season. This one was recced to me by [livejournal.com profile] hamsterfactor. It's The Office meets Monty Python meets Internet memes. Even geekier and more batshit than the previous one. Can't wait for season two.

3. Gintama
Anime, outgoing like the Jump shounen series that it is. I've already talked about the manga and that I've liked what I read. So I tried the anime, and it cracked me up as much (and sometimes even more). I've only watched what's been subbed, and it's great. All the characters are great but... strangely enough, I've developed a bizarre crush on Zura Katsura :D Funny: I thought I'd be more into Shinpachi (he is cute, and I'm amused when he's all Watanuki on people, but Katsura is such a crazy dork~).

What else? I've started reading The Count of Montecristo today, borrowed from my uncle.

Also, I doubt I'll migrate any time soon, but just in case you want to friend me I'm kirisame everywhere:

kirisame @ GJ
kirisame @ IJ.

Oh, and I just remembered I'm also kirisame @ Twitter, but I always forget to update it anyway.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Waka / pretty fly for a moon guy)
1. Finished Twelve Kingdoms ;____; I really loved this anime, so it's time to hit the novels.

2. Mom and the brothers are nuts. They got me Big Brain Academy. However, we might change it back and get Brain Age 2 when it's out instead.

I wonder if I can hold back until mid-July and get Elite Beat Agents instead, though. Besides the Dr. Mario minigame, I don't see how different BA2 can be from the first one.

3. ...I just realized something extremely obvious, but didn't dawned on me until today. You know the little prince, from the Saint-Exupéry book? He was AN ALIEN. Duh, of course he was. But this was the first time I said it aloud using that term.

4. I have the new layout for my fanlisting collective almost done. Why am I doing this instead of doing the urgent codes that must be done ASAP? No idea, honestly.
