Oct. 19th, 2009 05:45 pmThis has been a Shitty Day, but something amusing came out of this on lab class.
While Tales of Graces does look like it'll be shiny, I wish the characters would look more charismatic. I read the descriptions and few backstory that's out, and I don't really feel much interested in any of them. Especially the girls, man: the main one sounds incredibly annoying and cliche, the butler's daughter while cute so far is only love triangle fodder, and the mage girl sounds like a genki ripoff of Rita. And what's left with the males? Mentor that might or not be evil (AGAIN, NAMCO?), stern megane guy, and pretty foppish prince. Just barely more tolerable, yet still not that cool. Asbel's basic plot sounds pretty neat, but I get the feeling I'll end up hating it as soon as he gets more involved with whatever Sophie is into.
Ah, very important!! I'll try to make an icon post somewhere this week. Any suggestions? Any requests? Any images you want to give me (that aren't porn or random fanart you picked on pixiv/4chan)? outou made me noticed that my (and hamsterfactor's) icon journal's affiliates list was pretty mush. Lots of dead journals, lots of ones that hadn't updated in years (literally!). So I trimmed it up, deleting bahleeted usernames, putting active communities first, arranging alphabetically everything.
So, um. I'm going to break my usual tsundere stand for today and ask. Anyone wants to affiliate their icon journal withicondork? :D

So I just lost all the shit I had uploaded in there, including fanlistings. Well, that's nice. And I can't ftp it since the domain/server is dead, and I refuse to buy another year -not that I can afford it anyway- just to get those files.

In other news, I did the Mushroom Forest crap of a sidequest in TotA a couple of days ago. I also did the rappigs one because I needed an excuse to hang out at Grand Chokmah (I♥GC). In P4, Kanji was just kidnapped, and I decided to level up a bit before tackling thegay-porntastic dungeon. BTW, while I hate how expensive his healing is, I find the kitsune so cute~~~ Then again, I find Teddie more cute than annoying, so my tastes are on the dubious side of the road.

Aug. 26th, 2008 09:18 pmAshdghag I just realized I didn't post the "what a twist!" CLAMP icon in my icon post today. You know why? I didn't see it. I have no fucking clue where I saved it.
I should stop getting distracted by such stupid, tiny things and focus more on, oh I don't know, my mouth waking up to pain or the fact I haven't studied today a bit?
...I'm so going to flop this exam.
Oh well, more rambling so it's not all spam:
I miss playing Tales of Symphonia. In my feverish non-sleep tonight, I dreamed something game-related; I do recall Regal and Zelos in it, perhaps because they do have the most colorful hairdos (or my brain isn't that dumb and decided to toss in non-shota males for eyecandy, IDK). And I picked a wrong answer in a dwarf's house, and my party ended up having them as their enemies instead of their allies. And I had to reset the game.
Incidentally, a couple of nights ago, in the middle of another dream, I was seeing pics/videos of people in the line of the Gyakuten Saiban concert, and I was anxious because the next day there was going to be that infamous announcement and I needed to know badly. What's up with my dreams?

Aug. 17th, 2008 07:21 pmAnd now that I'm slowly rereading my FMA volumes. I guess some of you might remember those icons for tarot_challenge I made years ago. (If you weren't here or are curious, here they are.) It's kind of funny because for some reason I remembered them and went to check them out. And well, they're so simple but I still like them. But what's interesting is reading the reasons and the meaning of the cards, and finding that volumes later they still make sense story-wise or in my logic.
If I were to make them today, I would've made one extra of either Chariot or Strength for Olivier Armstrong (yeah, well, Strength fits her better than her brother), one extra of Hermit for Hohenheim, and one extra of Judgment for Marcoh. Oh, and a Hanged Man version with the other Greed. No, you know what's funny? Some cards that made no sense back then other than "oh, I want to do one with this character/scene" are making more sense in-story NOW. Particularly this one, and Mei's, and even Ling's whose meaning I thought to be lost after chapter 58. I'd also use a pre- or during-Ishval image for Lovers better, to make it more symbolic.

Holy shit it's been... months
Apr. 12th, 2008 07:42 pmI've actually made ICONS today. What the hell. Okay, so they were like a tiny quantity and all but it's still icons. I'm not sure if they even look good or anything, but... icons.
Hell, with the old CLAMP LIMS icons I have stored somewhere plus the two or three lame ones I did for an RP account, I could even make a tiny icon post with around 40-something items and everything. I'm still debating if I should include the Toph crops I made for roleplay purposes as bases. They're over 100. Yet I wouldn't call them "icons" per se because I only, like, applied soft light/screen/dodge to the things. So, bases. I'm toying with the idea of a mood theme but I'm lazy.
I actually programmed last night. I'm amazed I was able to figure out a way to make the swing application to change, which was the most intimidating part (okay, who am I kidding, the rest is intimidating, too). It's still progress, though.

The "awesome yet bashed female characters" meme is neat, but I can only think of like three ladies I truly love and I've seen bashed (that being Kaho, Winry, and Himawari). The old "guess my favorite characters" should be done since there are new people here (*waaaaaves*); however, the ones who've been here forever would be able to guess blindfolded. I make way too much noise XD

Well, about time, I think I was the contest's cockroach, only saved by people "sucking" more than me (apparently) every week. It wasn't about being good, even if I stood for six weeks: it was ninja survival. And mind you, it wasn't even good for the ego. During all those weeks, can you guess how many favorites I got? One. ONE. Sure, it doesn't mean my icons were that disliked (until this week, that is XD), just that they didn't call anyone's attention ever (except for votes off; I got plenty of those, like 3-4 a week in average).
I think I'm taking a break from LIMS (yeah, I know I've only been in this one once, but whatever). Oh, I'm not offended or OMG IM LEAVIN U GUYZ. I just think that I was kind of right and I have no place in this kind of event. Some iconmakers just aren't the kind of stuff that LIMS voters like, and maybe this is karma's way to tell me to stick to normal icontests and quirky icon batches. And I don't work well under pressure or catering to more popular styles.
But since the universe likes balance, someone on a comm was asking last night about my Fye icon with the Good Omens quote. It made me smile and feel better about sucking at icontests. And wonder if I'll be permanently famous for that icon and the manjuu!Mokona. Oh lawl.
By the way, my BSPlayer sucks balls. I spent some solid five minutes screencapping CiW2 hardcore (I hadn't even got past the HOLiC part, because it would be cool shit to have a lot for K.net), and when I went to the folder to delete an accidental cap... all of them but the first two or something were pitch black. The 220-something of them.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! THE JUMPING MOKONAS! THE GAZILLION VARIATIONS OF WATANUKI'S FACES DDDDDD: THE CLOW-COLA TRADEMARK FACE IN ONE FRAME!!!the three variations of Doumeki's faces! *headdesks*
Then I figured out that it just happened when I put pause and went frame to frame. Which is bullshit because I've done that millions of times and it never happened to me. I wonder if I should consider to change my screencapping software? I still don't know WTF happened today. My guts tell me it could be a buffer thing, but it might be because we're seeing buffer caches on OS2 classes right now.

May. 29th, 2007 12:09 pmYa know, I've been checking FMA raw scans for layout purposes, and I'll tell you something:
I MISS LING SO MUCH WHILE READING ;_____;
I kind of felt guilty for not missing him for the last months, because the plot is just getting so interesting up north. Maybe my other fandoms and my love for not-so-recurrent characters conditioned me for that. I don't really suffer for the lack of my favorite characters if the story is pretty good; now, if things do get boring, then I resort to remember the good times I had, and that makes me nostalgic/wanky about the character(s) I love who won't show up. But FMA is so awesome and I like the main players so much, I seldom miss the minor guys (although I'm so glad when they reappear, it's pretty cool). This is why I never understood why so many fans whine because Ed/Roy/Havoc/Envy/Mobuta/whoever isn't in that month's chapter to bring sexy back, therefore the chapter sucks ass. Pleeeeeeease.
This is why it came as a surprise to feel Ling's absence so strong by rereading. I had almost forgotten why I loved him and the Ling-tachi so much. Sigh.

Man, I miss the Wales subplot! I think that's the real reason movie!Howl never dyed his hair again. He buys hisL'Oreal "dye potions" at a drugstore in Wales.
