taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Waka / about to strike a pose)

Starting with blond guys... again

Let's begin with the headcanon meme with a half-baked prophet.

1. This is canon-supported, but he and Ishaku -Issun's gramps- became good friends after Shiranui!Amaterasu's death. Ishaku continued his journeys for a while and on the meantime Waka would tell him his story when they'd get together to drink sake. Even after the poncle returned home. Waka still goes to Kamui every so years to give his respects to the fallen, and he takes the chance to hang out with Ishaku and talk. He went during the year before the plot, and this is why he knew about Issun running away with Ishaku's painting. Oh, and he roaming in the forest not looking for the Ark, but Ponc'tan: he wanted to say hi for a last time.

2. He's been practically Sakuya's kooky uncle -if wood sprites had uncles- for the last hundred years. He also visits Kamiki quite often. Oh, and he was the one who gave her that reflector with Amaterasu's soul and the instructions to bring her back to life in case something bad happened while he was absent. The sprout he's holding during the ending sequence was given to him by Sakuya when they said good-bye.

3. He survived, yes, but was heavily wounded during the Ark incident; to be precise he fell off board when the rudder was broken, and that fall was a bit too high even for him. He was found by the Oina and nursed back to health. The tengu mask on his hairdress is a tribute to them. Actually, he did a lot there, good and bad: helped out the Oina warriors to seal Lechku and Nechku; the prophecy about Kutone was his; assembled the Spirit Gate and gave the key to poncles; built the portal to Nippon. The reason why the Oina legend has a Celestial as the survivor instead of him has the retelling through generations to blame.

4. About his life in the Moon Tribe, he was a member of an order of military monks; kind of like Shaolin but more alien-army-like. He was taught there the art of the (laser) sword, a magic style that would be called onmyoudou on Nippon, and how to fly a spaceship. It wasn't that much of a religious organization, though. Actually, this is why the Tao Troopers -lame as they might be- are so martial: it was heavily influenced by the monastery and mixed with Waka's very own fruity taste.

5. He met Kaguya once; she was only a child and was ill so she doesn't remember him. Actually, the Tao Troopers have two functions: 1) fortune-telling and calendar-making 2) to investigate strange happenings, most of them ending up youkai and/or moon related. So they went to Sasa Sanctuary because of the calls of something crashing, and a sparrow told him he saw Mr. and Mrs. Bamboo carrying something. They went to their place and just saw the old guys and a sick little girl in bed, so they left. Waka returned though, having recognized the girl as a Lunar, to tell the couple how to heal her. BTW, it was a form of space asthma: her helmet has its origins in those days.

And because I have no self esteem lately.
