Dorkness from the least expected places
YES, I'M DONE WITH YULETIDE.
Avatar 3x12: I'm not going to spoil it, but it was soooo dorky XD Very LOL to Zuko's fail expenses. And Toph is awesome.
FMA 78: ...Fuery! O_O That's gotta be one of the suckiest transfers in the history of ever. However, I don't think Arakawa will kill him off. Not in battle, at least.
Hohenheim >>>>>> everyone. He's Hagaren's very own Chuck Norris figure. And he's adorable, too. *fangirls the crap out of Hoho*
Al + Mei arguing FTW. As soon as I get my Photoshop groove back, I'll make a Mei icon with her fingers on her head with the text "Unagi!" *wonders how many people will get the joke*
I can't decide who's more of an asshole, Kimbley or the traitor chimera. Setting an army on Briggs and fuck the shit up the plot, which will bring potential DOOM on the whole country. Oh the other hand, setting the Homunculi on refugees, including sick people and little children. It's a tough pick.
And you know, I have a pet peeve. Seeing someone saying "oh, even though [main character's name] didn't appear, it was a pretty good chapter!" boils my blood as much as someone bashing it because of the lack (or existence) of him/her/it. It just sounds condescending. The fact people may think -even subconsciously- less of a chapter, episode, or arc if it lacks the protagonist is appalling. I mean, I've loved main characters in many series, but secondary and minor characters can (and will, depending of the fandom) manage to make things very interesting by themselves! I can understand finding it boring if you dislike the focus character, because it's happened to me a lot, but looking down on everything all the time if your hero(ine) is MIA? Graaah.

A good example is in Mushishi there are several episodes where Ginko isn't even prominent but I don't think less of those episodes because he is not there. Of course Mushishi is more about the side characters than Ginko so maybe that is a bad example.
As for FMA, Ed is my favorite character but I still loved this chapter. In fact I didn't even realize he was gone at first LOL. But I also adore every character in FMA. But we know Arakawa has a way with making me love her characters.

Maybe it's me being weird. Even in the fandoms where my favorite character is the protagonist, I still love the occasional output on the rest of the cast. It makes them more human and slightly less plot device-y.
Then again, I'm so used to adore minor people I take what I can. In some fandoms we don't get to hear a thing about the non-popular characters or the ones the creators don't care much. In FMA I think we're very lucky to have all these awesome cameos and flashbacks.

Yeah I have to second
The truth is in some canons I get bored when the main character(s) is/are not there. This is because if a canon isn't that good then the main characters are sometimes the only ones that have enough depth for me to care about (rest of the cast is cardboard). Generally I don't stick with a series like that for long. XD
A good canon makes the side characters as (and sometimes even more) interesting than the main ones so for me to say "even though Ed didn't appear, it was awesome," is a compliment on Arakawa's writing that she can develop a lot of interesting and complex characters and plotlines and not just one or a few like many creators.
And if she can continually create storylines I love where my favorite character is gone (I mean Winry was gone for like... ever until earlier this year) without my enjoyment being diminished, that also speaks of the strength of the series- that it's a great overall package (as opposed to just a couple characters being interesting to me).

Yeah, me neither. On the other way around, I do admit I've also dropped fandoms because I couldn't bother to care about the main character(s), and the other ones get the short end of the stick or disappear in thin air in the next arc before getting to become interesting
whazzup, Bleach! Some mangaka should stick to a tiny cast, or just not doing massive shounenhi CLAMP! you sort of fail at shounenjumpness! go back to seinen and shoujo kthx...I'm loving FMA and OP even though Ling and his bodyguards are gone (with good reason, they have nothing to do with the North right now), and Vivi was just a temporary character and her story had a closure. So it can be done, liking a manga plot with your favorite MIA. I'll squee if they're back, but since there's no reason I'll embrace the previous canon instead happily.

That said, Hohenheim = motherfucking hardcore. OMG.
And oh god, my poor poor Fuery :'( I just want to hug him. Arakawa is definitively not going to kill him off, but it's painful to see him like that.
I guess EVEN THOUGH ROY DIDN'T APPEAR, IT WAS A PRETTY GOOD CHAPTER!
lulz.

Oh dude, she should just STFU. Every month is the fucking same with her OMG NO ROY OR RIZA BUT I GUESS IT DIDN'T SUCK THO.
Hohenheim makes Chuck Norris look like a n00b~~ The man has balls.

Avatar was great too. I would love it if the frog-thingy hangs around. Or better! If it becomes you-know-who's pet. XD

The frog-lizard-thing should totally be his version of Hawky X3

Well, not really, but the finger thing reminded me a lot of FRIENDS.
You're talking to someone who iconned a Chapulín Colorado reference on Scar, you know...no subject
And Hohopapa fskdfsd *wondering now where's he heading to now, still to the north I guess :O?* he's just so AWESOME and I want to hug Manga!Roze since she looks so cute~
And and and I'm starting to worry for the safety of the Winry-tachi right now ;_; that chimeraaaaa fkdsjlfds *shows fist* AND THE DRACHMA ATTACK FKDSJFSD *faints*
At this moment I think it wouldn't be that bad the "WHERE'S EDWAAARRRD" comments since well.. :O I think this chapter makes you wonder about where's him, we don't know if he's alright at all, and in other chapters this was not the case *at least I can't recall any alike to this case right now xDDD*
But yeah if the fangirls intentions behind the "Where is hiiiiim" are "I want to see him because he's so sexyy/cute/beautiful kyaaa" then uggghhh Dx
