taotrooper: Plastic toy aliens stare at you in wonder (LOL aliens!)
Kiri ☂ ([personal profile] taotrooper) wrote2007-12-17 12:42 pm

It's a bit late for this? XD

[livejournal.com profile] iconzicons' Choose Your Own Adventure cover icons are hilarious XD In the end I chose this one because as you all know, I think aliens are LOL (when they're not predating my childhood traumas of abduction). So, GIP!

Speaking of LOLaliens, you know, the Tokyopop translation of Duklyon is still less gayer than the Norma one. I guess the Spanish translators were considerably more stoned/drunk when they did that manga.

Also, I watched The Girl Who Leaped Time. That movie is quite awesome. I love how the consequences to time traveling kept piling on, bringing new issues whenever she tried to fix her mistakes. Makoto was a very real teenager, cute and awkward. It's a pity about Chiaki/Makoto D:

The other day I watched Enchanted and it was fine, but I was more amused at the lampshading on the Disney clichés than the story itself. I almost peed myself at this part XDDD

Ah, I forgot to post a holidays wishlist D: And I was too shy to post at posts on my flist for presents. So I guess I'll only have my Yuletide piece this year because it's so late. Anyway, if you have posted a wishlist, pass me the link ^^ Maybe I can do something for you before new year's.

STEP ONE
- Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.

- If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you. [Note: Your home address is not required!]

- Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post so that the holiday joy will spread.

STEP TWO
- Surf around your friendslist (or friendsfriends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:

- If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it.

You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no guarantees with this project, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.

1. Translations of Soel to Larg, dammit Wait, this one finally left the list! :DDD *throws confetti and kisses Jamie*

01. Icons and graphics (of things and people I like). You wouldn't believe how happy they make me.
02. Fanarts of my obscurest fandoms, or my obscure pairings, or my loved minor characters. Or hell, even scans of doujinshis or links to fanarts made by other people.
03. Fanfics are always appreciated. You know my tastes; genfics and fics about pairings I like are welcomed. The obscurer the better. How about more Okami fics? *gets shot by flist*
04. Reviews or concrits for fanstuff I do, be them fanfiction or icons except I haven't done icons in ages. Just telling me you really liked something I did, like a layout or a drabble or an RP log would make my fucking day. I rarely get enough feedback recently.

Now for the material section (aka, you can skip):
05. This goddamed thing. My copy definitely got lost in the mail ;_;
06. Books. I want the Slayers novels, the Kino no Tabi novels, the Twelve Kingdoms novels. And in the Western part of the globe, I suppose more YA fantasy or Terry Pratchett would be cool.
07. Artbooks. The XXXHOLiC manga guidebook, the second Arakawa one, CLAMP South Side (Spanish release), One Piece Lion, any Aria artbook. Funny enough, I'm not looking for the Okami artbook because it'll get translated... ONE DAY ¬_¬U
08. More games for my DS? I guess that's what I'll ask my mom. I think I'll be leaning to Hotel Dusk.
09. Manga I'm behind. I want to start collecting Aqua/Aria. I should buy more One Piece and Ouran and Saiyuki. Maybe I should start Yotsuba&! because it's so cute.
10. I HAVE NO IDEA. More DVD packs?

Seeing my last year's list is hilarious, because I got several of that stuff but during the year instead. I did get the Zelda game for Christmas. The translations were actually done. I did get a NDS for my birthday. My FMA artbook is on the way. I bought a new mp3 player a while ago.

Already saw, but I wasn't that impressed. I suppose the larger spread version will be nicer to look at, but so far it looks so averagely CLAMP it's not worth noting yet.

Aw XD

They usually do look better as a full pic, that's true.

It's like... school uniform and colorful cape in a background of sakura trees. YEAH, ORIGINAL.

No magnolias? D:

[identity profile] jlarinda.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 02:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I do like the sakura trees even if it's over-used, just for the Sakura reference :D;;

The cape has a butterfly in it! Close enough? Maybe he has magnolias in his hands! /o/

Get an r4 cartridge? :O Then you can download any games you want into it.

But wouldn't that screw the DS up? I know there IS a pirate method that does. I was reading a tutorial and you had to be veeeeery careful not to fuck the hardware up.

[identity profile] jlarinda.livejournal.com 2007-12-17 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
A friend of mine, who's a total game geek (and COULD afford the games) has one. If you use a good cartridge (like the r4, which is the best one available), it shouldn't do anything :O

I've also played with his DS and the games worked perfectly :3

I am glad that you liked the movie. XD

One of my favorite things was how Makoto was such a real teenage girl. I also love that she was sort of tomboyish which you often don't get with anime girls.

As for Enchanted I loved that moment too. Especially when the bird ate the cockroach. LOL I loved that the movie was so silly and ridiculous and Amy Adams was adorable. The romance was a little too cliche for my tastes but it worked for the movie.

I remember those books! XD I usually died within five pages though, so I'd make a useless adventurer. I think once I waded into the wrong lake and my leg fell off.

Why yes, I forgot to reply on this post BD

I'll investigate, it's probably not the one I saw. Still, I do like to own real games, so I'd probably only play like Japanese ROMs or shit I don't feel like paying for.

TokiKake was pretty refreshing. Makoto being so real and tomboyish might have a lot to do with it.

I couldn't care less about the romances, they both felt cardboarded (I did laugh when the cellphone rang at the wedding, though). I was just LOL'ing at the silliness of it all, including making dresses with curtains and carpets, or having pests cleaning the bathroom XD

I didn't even know they existed until some years ago, I guess it's not usual in my country. The icons I was talking about are just cropping of random covers with faux funny titles to match (for instance, a cover with an old Nordic ship flying to the Valhalla through the rainbow and several other myth references, was dubbed "gay viking holidays")

I... this had nothing to do with those books? I've never read one. See my reply to [livejournal.com profile] hungrybookworm.

I don't think I'll request anything from you, though. It's way too late, and we have too few fandoms in common to comfortably giving you a burden.
