post-Christmas and recs! ...sorta
Dec. 27th, 2007 06:54 pmAbout Christmas, I've been at my mom's until yesterday. I've rambled about the JOYS of having two computers for four persons before, so I won't dwell a lot about it. Let's just say my mom got recently addicted to Flickr communities/groups/whatever, and she keeps posting images of the cat like the middle-aged lady who can't do her gardening hobby on winter she is. In case you're curious to see our bastard of a kitty, here is the album.
The navidad was so-so. Better than some years, though.
I'm really glad my Yuletide recipient liked my story :D I even got three more reviews, which is more than I expected. It's a good thing people enjoyed it even if it's a bit stupid in premise. As for me, my Santa defaulted but three pinch hitters/treaters wrote for me ^___^ Meeting the In-laws is a fluffy, adorable Erii/Kotobuki fic. Both A Confusing Matter and Alpha Pavonis are introspective Kujaku gen, and so bittersweet and great on their own account. The first one is about his reflections on love, by comparing the kinds he has seen in other people and canon relationships. The second one is four ficlets in one exploring things like his past and his role/existence. I loved them both equally.
So I got a pretty good deal :D It's ironic I got so much CLAMP, but I can't tell why yet. A part of me was a bit sad because my plans of an Okami explosion at Yuletide were thwarted by luck. However! I felt loads better when I discovered that the one fic it was written was so fucking awesome. No, really, it is fucking awesome. It has several legends and myths, comedy, drama, tragic romance, music, very in-game original characters, an imp in incognito, Amaterasu pwning, Ushiwaka being the dork he is. The whole lot, bitches. Land of One Hundred Stories, folks, go read it now. Quality > quantity.
Now to read the posts of yours I skipped, and to reply to an RP log.

It's a bit late for this? XD

Speaking of LOLaliens, you know, the Tokyopop translation of Duklyon is still less gayer than the Norma one. I guess the Spanish translators were considerably more stoned/drunk when they did that manga.
Also, I watched The Girl Who Leaped Time. That movie is quite awesome. I love how the consequences to time traveling kept piling on, bringing new issues whenever she tried to fix her mistakes. Makoto was a very real teenager, cute and awkward. It's a pity about Chiaki/Makoto D:
The other day I watched Enchanted and it was fine, but I was more amused at the lampshading on the Disney clichés than the story itself. I almost peed myself at this part XDDD
Ah, I forgot to post a holidays wishlist D: And I was too shy to post at posts on my flist for presents. So I guess I'll only have my Yuletide piece this year because it's so late. Anyway, if you have posted a wishlist, pass me the link ^^ Maybe I can do something for you before new year's.
( Wishlists are GO! )
Seeing my last year's list is hilarious, because I got several of that stuff but during the year instead. I did get the Zelda game for Christmas. The translations were actually done. I did get a NDS for my birthday. My FMA artbook is on the way. I bought a new mp3 player a while ago.
Mostly CLAMP shit
Oct. 27th, 2007 09:46 pm1. Highlight of the day: Listening to Yamaguchi Kappei as Kentarou on the Duklyon CD drama. WHAT XD The worse part: he can pull it off. Man, that guy can do anything. Speaking of which, the fact that Kotobuki's seiyuu did also Il Palazzo on Excel Saga is JUST WAY TOO AMUSING XDDDDD If you don't know why or are unfamiliar with Excel Saga, just image-google him and see why it's funny shit.
2. Okay, so, CLAMP in Wonderland 2. Yeah, it was cute. I'm still kind of sour because they randomly had Spinel in thereand daddy and sister don't, woes... or Mokonas' daddy?. But I still found it amusing and nice-looking despite of the complains I had at the beginning.
3. However, the ending I found even cuuuuuter X3 Eeeeeeeh Ioryogi with the tiny car-bicycle! And the random monkeys and usyagis XDDD
Why do I find Ioryogi extremely cute when he's so psychotic? Oh well.
(2-3 add: Both songs I find meh.)
4. These icons won't make you see The Wizard of Oz the same way ever again.Even if you haven't watch/read it like myself O.o I've only seen cartoon adaptations and all. Why are modern slang and Internet-speech funnier with oldies?
5. There was a point five, but it needs graphic demonstration for a crack crossover theory regarding Mononoke. Will do tomorrow, along with a related fic rec.
6. ETA: I knew I forgot something! I was waiting for all these episodes to come out to make a massive Avatar post. *facepalm*

OMG OMG OMG
May. 9th, 2007 05:09 pmGuys! Guys!
You have no excuse anymore. Now you can and must read Duklyon ♥ Someone at free_manga (locked, but you can just join for yoinking) scanned the whole thing. So if you can't buy/find it, or want to sample first, there you go.
Even if you hate CLAMP, if you're into crack comedy with some romance this is your thing. Even if it's sentai, it's all taken as a parody and not seriously. Also, there's one (or more...? who knows...) gay character, so you even get I-love-my-classmate-so-much! CLAMP fluffy homosexuality with a twist, if you're into that.
So go check it out, dammit! They're just two volumes.

Yay trasmitting fandoms
Aug. 10th, 2006 12:08 amYou know what's cool about brainwashing your friends until they get into your fandoms? That sometimes they do awesome contributions and you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
misao_ made a Watanuki moodtheme, and in good timing! ♥ I really needed a new one and I'm still working in my Yuuko's, but I'm lazy and forget
Amazingly enough, the KuroFye ship manifesto is actually serious, well-written, well-exposed, and firmly based in canon and not the usual fanon crap. It's really good.
Okay, so I'm sharing a cracktacular scene at Dukylon that actually happened in canon. The text is a traslation of the Spanish translation, so it might not be correct. Still, I'm sharing the text I read.
Basically, the villains are at it again, and they need to get out of the classroom. And Kentarou tries to come up with an excuse...

To make it worst, Takeshi's reaction afterwards.

Gotta love how much Kentarou doesn't care.

Someone please kidnap my wallet
Jul. 22nd, 2006 05:45 pmI can't go to the department store without buying some shit for me. I got a paperback book and Howl's Moving Castle (cheapskate version) on DVD.
The older I am, more money I spend.
Then again, when I was young(er), I lived in a country with no manga, good books, or DVDs.
Man, is the cheap HMC version ugly. The box is RED. What were they thinking?
ETA: There's a Polish site with Dukylon scanlations. However, as you might've guessed... they're in Polish.

Defenders of justice and cafeteria lunch!
Jul. 18th, 2006 02:01 pmRight, so my local manga shop still hasn't gotten CLAMP no Kiseki... *is emo*
For some reason I decided to buy the first volume of Duklyon. I have no idea why, considering I think the CLAMP Campus manga series are the cheesiest ones from their CV.
However, Duklyon is so cheesy on purpose it becomes hilarious XD I enjoyed one volume of this more than the whole CCD series.
( Everyone ships Kentarou/Takeshi... but Takeshi )
ETA: Wow. The Spanish Saiyuki edition is amazing. The volumes are larger than the usual sizes by the other editorials, they kept the color pages -all glossy-, and they even added some translation notes with background info. And it's .50 cents cheaper than a Norma manga! Wow, Mangaline! You're making me buy all Saiyuki because it's just delightful.
