Majide?!

Boring layout is boring:

Any opinions on it?

The anime screening was pretty neat yesterday. There were these contests in which they asked for volunteers with knowledge about Dragon Ball, and then they'd make them imitate attacks (i.e, the fusion dance thing -in pairs, obviously- and the kame hame ha). It was hilarious! About the anime itself:

- Grave of the Fireflies (...I want to unwatch this movie, seriously. I felt more unsettled than sad in the end. I did have teary eyes, though. But still, never watching it again!)
- Lucky Star #1 (kinda lame, but still funnier than Ichigo Whatsitsname)
- a random episode of BoBoBo (this one. I LOL'd)
- Darker than Black #1 (um, I had good expectations for this one, but that first episode is more confusing than appealing. I can't be bothered to find out more about main characters that don't appear that much in the first installment, sorry)
- Macross Frontier #1 (I spaced out at the space battle scenes; ah, sci-fi, you never grab me. The non-battle scenes... were pretty gay. The main character was like Kanda from DGM had a lovechild with a random Gundam protagonist)
- Ranma 1/2 #1 (we all know that one. pretty much like the manga beginning)
- Bola de Dan [Honou no Toukyuu-ji o Dodge Danpei] #1 (.....that so didn't improve my thoughts on old-school sports anime. also, most cheesy WTF attempt to backstory for a sports anime ever. also, DODGEBALL. might be a classic in Spain, but geez, it would've bored me to death in my childhood)

I really like Darker than Black, but the pace of the series drives most people nuts. Also, each episode is two parts long, so only watching episode one probably would leave most people in the dark. They just throw you into the world with a brief voice over from Misaki that doesn't tell you much, and some things were never explained until the end of the series.

I do love Hei though.

I don't doubt the series is good, but to be honest-- they did a pretty lousy job at selling the show on that first episode. It's okay to be a little mysterious, but the problem is they're being too mysterious for me to be intrigued. I couldn't even make a clear impression of Hei because he spent almost all of the show in a normal-person-srsly-I'm-so-normal façade and perhaps never showed his true personality or why he was helping the ex-scientific lady at all. He didn't even interact directly with the rest of the main cast. It all seemed like this long teaser trailer instead of an episode, and at the end I didn't give a damn about the world besides "huh, good animation". And if the horrible pacing goes on, I honestly can't be bothered to watch it just to get intrigued at what, the middle of the show?
