HELL YEAH SHINY (LITERALLY!) ARTBOOK!

It's so thick! It's as thick as my thumb! And the marks in Amaterasu on the cover are shiny, not just golden.

On one hand, the layout is gorgeous. On the other, they threw consistency for basic terms through the window. Just by reading Waka's parts:
onmyouji -> Tao Master (game) -> exorcist (artbook)
Takamagahara -> Celestial Plain (game) -> ...Takamagahara [the Higher Celestial Plain] (artbook)
bouncing ball-kun -> "little bouncing friend" (game) -> "pea apparition" (.......WHUT, it's not even close! the whole nickname part is BULLSHIT)

Geez man, why the fuck do you translate shit literally without checking on the game translations of stuff? I mean, names weren't the only thing that changed or were adapted, you know? Goes to show that CAPCOM truly hates Okami's guts.

All this time waiting, and the text translation is less than shiny. But whatever, I finally have an artbook. I just won't take some parts of it, namely the nickname part (How can -kun be translated as "Mistress"? HOW?!), as metacanon and that's it.

Please tell me to stay away from it today. I should finish my study.

The whole book is! <3 Actually, the cover design used these paper textures, so even though it looks in the picture that the edges are old, it's actually just part of the cover art and the book is brand new. The studio just made it look like it was an old religious book to make it more mythological.

Well, the section DOES say they translated it from the Japanese, except... from rubber ball (gomumari) to pea...?

I guess that, since the nickname is all in katakana, the translation had no fucking clue what it meant and looked for the first kanji with that pronunciation. Except I found the meaning easily in an online translator, but eh. I don't know.

I have to order a copy of that. I didn't realize it was so affordable. I was expecting it to be fifty dollars, not 26!

I hear there's a part in there that talks about what happens to the characters after the game, is that true?

It depends of the store and the discounts. I heard it's a bit cheaper on rightstuff after I ordered it. Retail price is $40.

I haven't seen such part at all O_o I do reckon some mentions in the sketches that the original ending plans included Susano and Kushi(nada)'s son, and that Kaguya was cut down too. But no real post-canon meta that I know of. I'll recheck again because now I'm curious.
