Victory is mine
Guess who was finally able to reinstall Photoshop! ♥ The first thing I did was to fix my layout header which had been done with Gimp (which I barely understand) and looked like crap. The second was to make some icons to practice and remember how to use it. The bad news is that my copy is in Spanish and I'm not used to translated terms.
Anyway, GIP. If you get this icon, you're pretty cool by default ♣
I'm also almost done with that rants meme I hadn't finished. Here are the links:
→ Character: Touya Kinomoto
→ Theory: Before 1999, Kotobuki and Erii leave Earth, take their friends with them, and all four of them have adventures IN SPACE and away from Kamui and all those angsty crazies
→ Character: Tamaki Suoh
→ Pairing: Ling Yao/Lan Fan
&rarr: Opinion: Pongamos que acaba el manga de FMA, y Greed sigue dentro de Ling. (It's in Spanish; she asked me about my thoughts on Greed still being within Ling by the end of the manga, and tl;dr I said it's going to depend on how it's executed, but I do hope that subplot gets a resolution.)
→ Opinion: TRC: the good crack or the bad crack?
And now a similar meme.
Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.
1)Okami
This game! I have this irrational love towards it. It fills me with fuzzy feelings. It has so many cute things, but also dark and scary ones, and it's all nicely balanced. It has Japanese mythology, subtle story-telling meta, silly humor, drama, fluffy animals (including the title character!), Zelda-like puzzles and action, gorgeous landscapes and BGM, artsy quirkiness, good values without getting too preachy (ironically), and in no other game you can level up by blooming flora and feeding fauna! (see: GIP) And the characters are awesome and adorable. My favorite game of all time.
2) Ling/Lan Fan (also Xing in general)
I'll go only with Xing since I already ranted about the pairing. You know, I've noticed lately that I have this... tendency to obsess not only about characters, but also about fictional nations in the cases my favorite characters and/or pairings tend to come from there. (Newest one: Malkuth empire of the Tales of Abyss fame). And since I liked the Ling-tachi and Mei Chan, it was inevitable I'd be into the country they're from. It's fun to imagine what kind of place it is -not fun to live in it, however, with all the clan fights for succession. But I like Xing because I like the characters from them, certainly. Ishval and Xerxes are pretty intriguing, too.
3) CLAMP
I'm starting to believe you gotta be like a Star Wars fan to be in the CLAMP fan: you can't be in it without at least an ounce of resentment towards them (your mileage may vary, of course).* It's no secret I'm bored the fuck out of Tsubasa, that I'm more lethargic and anxious than fannish over XXXHOLiC recently (I don't even plan to watch the new OVA), and that I read Kobato for Ioryogi (I hope the anime is good!). But some of the manga series that entertained me the most are by them, so I can't truly hate them or leave fandom. I do miss the days the twists were more about quality than quantity, however.
* ETA: It was a joke, but I guess it didn't translate well. Oh well.
4) Terry Pratchett
What I like about this author is that he combines two genres I really like: fantasy and parody. His humour is witty, his main sandbox (the Discworld) is quite well developed, and there's even some philosophy and meta creeping over the funny. They're amusing reads, his novels. Also, he co-wrote one of my top favorite books, Good Omens.
5) Howl/Sophie
What I like is the way they complement each other, and the fact that after they hook up and get married, they don't really change for the other one's sake. It's a trope that sometimes annoys me. In the end, Sophie is still a strong-willed nosey girl, and Howl is still a coward self-centered fop. But they fell in love with that and take the other one's flaws as part of their charm -whether they like it or not, deep down. And part of the fun is the overreactions they have (green slime, weed killer, etc.) and the image of how their constant fights must be like -and wondering how the castle hasn't been destroyed yet, TBH.
Anyway, GIP. If you get this icon, you're pretty cool by default ♣

what you say about CLAMP puzzles me... I still see myself as a big CLAMP fangirl yet i ever bothered watching the xxholic or tsubasa anime, I haven't read more than the two first chapters of Kobato, etc. I certainly don't like everything they do XD
Love what you say about Howl/Sophie! :)

I'm more lethargic and anxious than fannish over XXXHOLiC recently
I've felt the same way for the last few months. And it's disappointing, because Watanuki and Yuuko are still some of my favourite characters, and I do care about what'll happen to them, but I'm all "meh" at the thought of waiting for new chapters.
