taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Crossover / broom vs. honest wind)
For [livejournal.com profile] lalita_b, top favorite female characters in books.

My god, it's full of plot fetishes )
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Crossover / oh so obscure)
Interesting crossovers to do with Howl's Moving Castle:

- Sullivan from Monsters, inc. I blame [livejournal.com profile] fujurpreux. It's all about entering the wrong doors.

- Fujimoto from Ponyo on the Cliff. They were ttly interdimensional BFF before this guy moved out to the sea in disgust to his own species.

- Just Discworld. You know Howl can also move through L-space. Let's argue with the Librarian and fellow coward Rincewind!
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Okami / bloom for praise)
Guess who was finally able to reinstall Photoshop! ♥ The first thing I did was to fix my layout header which had been done with Gimp (which I barely understand) and looked like crap. The second was to make some icons to practice and remember how to use it. The bad news is that my copy is in Spanish and I'm not used to translated terms.

Anyway, GIP. If you get this icon, you're pretty cool by default

I'm also almost done with that rants meme I hadn't finished. Here are the links:
→ Character: Touya Kinomoto
→ Theory: Before 1999, Kotobuki and Erii leave Earth, take their friends with them, and all four of them have adventures IN SPACE and away from Kamui and all those angsty crazies
→ Character: Tamaki Suoh
→ Pairing: Ling Yao/Lan Fan
&rarr: Opinion: Pongamos que acaba el manga de FMA, y Greed sigue dentro de Ling. (It's in Spanish; she asked me about my thoughts on Greed still being within Ling by the end of the manga, and tl;dr I said it's going to depend on how it's executed, but I do hope that subplot gets a resolution.)
→ Opinion: TRC: the good crack or the bad crack?

And now a similar meme.

Association Meme: Comment to this post and I will give you 5 subjects/things I associate you with. Then post this in your LJ and elaborate on the subjects given.

kirarakim's picks: Okami, Xing, CLAMP, Terry Pratchett, Howl/Sophie )
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Default)
Bought today:
- Textbooks for the language courses
- Pocket dictionaries; one English, one German
- "Witches Abroad", Terry Pratchett
- "The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson 2)", Rick Riordan

Either way, the German textbook looks so... cryptic, because everything is in German. *pokes* I guess I'll have to study/translate at least a couple of pages beforehand, just in case the teacher doesn't explain a thing either.

And I'll try to memorize how to pronounce letters, too. I feel like a dork when trying to read it aloud.

ALSO: I refused to touch the Gamecube today. That son of a bitch gave me this headache and I couldn't sleep well tonight. Oh, as soon as I get through, I'm so going to level up like crazy ;_;
taotrooper: A wizard with a T-shirt that says "actually I am a rocket wizard" (Ponder / nerdy T-shirt)
Almost finished Guards! Guards! You win, guys. I like Vimes a lot now. (It's a matter of finding the right books, I suppose.)

Note: It's amazing how I'm unable to find good screencaps of Kino no Tabi. I really want to revamp the fanlisting, but there are no images to choose from. Sigh.

I had completely forgotten I posted at the Snap Cup meme and I didn't plug it. Oh well.

How come I didn't know they're making a live-action miniseries for The Colour of Magic?!

Oh, and Laurus, you're going to love and boggle a lot, perhaps, over this. Sean Astin was casted as Twoflower!

Personally, my mind boggled more with Tim Curry as Trymon. Does that mean it'll attract his fangirls? ...Eek. Christopher Lee as DEATH's voice will be LOL, though XD Rincewind is way older than he should be, IMHO. I always pictured him on his late thirties or something, pretty much as in Kidby's art. And with such a young Twoflower, the contrast will be even larger to me. Oh well.

Will they add the The Light Fantastic events as well? I suppose so. Otherwise... O_o
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Mouse vs. Kittyhiro)
Yesterday, all my troubles seemed so far away were caused by the people instead of the other animals. Kitty was behaving almost normally, except for sleeping over my legs which is a bad trait of mine, and chipmunk is semi-hibernating so he was kinda not there. Now, my uncle and my mom... okay, so it was my fault for being oversincere, but still.

Today, I found poop outside the sandbox, and the kitchen floor quite dusty; had to sweep twice. Chipmunk ate, which was a relief. Kitty went batshit when I wouldn't let him outdoors (not until my uncle comes for lunch, at least). He nearly made me drop a dish I was watching because he was rubbing on my legs. When tenderness didn't work, he took the John Lennon approach to protesting -except violent this time and annoying-, and jumped at the half-undone bed while I was making it. He wouldn't leave, and used the claws and teeth when possible. The sheets and my pajama pants are living proof, and so is my ankle in less degree.

Right now he's behaving, probably to make me look bad or something. Asshat.

1. Not exclusive to the Agatean empire...

I so didn't know the "May you live in interesting times" phrase was origined in China, and it's an actual curse. Hilarity will ensue in epic lulz next time I reread that Pratchett book.

2. Anyone can cook, but not me. I'm reheating pasta today, bitches.

Dude, I finally watched Ratatouille last night! It was an illegal rip, yeah, but my mom downloads movies like that with amazing frequency. She doesn't believe in buying DVDs or something, ever since she discovered eMule (which I HATE because it hates ME, like all non-BT P2P software). Eh, I took the chance anyway.

So damned CUTE. I was all awwwww at the ending. I'm looking forward to watch this on DVD quality -without random heads moving XD- and in English. The Mexican dub was good, though. It's funny I end up watching most Pixar movies out there in Mexican Spanish, LOL.

3. Speaking of eMule...

Looks like the only way to download any episode of Nintama Rantarou is with that. Or it would if it'd download already! After 12 hours of 0% progress, I gave up.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (OMFG)

**********

1. Like I need more shit to read:
Yay, bought a new Discworld novel to distract myself with something happy, for when I'm done with Montecristo. A Witches novel, actually: Maskerade. Even if I've never cared for the Phantom of the Opera, a parody sounds splendid. And I already saw a Granny vs. DEATH showdown while flipping the pages, so that alone makes this book the win.

2. Geeky sighting:
On the way to the dentist, there's this cybercafé called "Katsur@.net". I'm awed, because there's a chance the owner might be an animanga geek with such a Japanphile name. That, of the owner IS a Japanese whose last name is Katsura.

But mostly, I'm tempted to enter one day and ask if that place is "Zura.net", so I can giggle like a maniac when I'm corrected. I doubt the clerk would get the kind-of-obscure joke. (By the way, it's a Gintama reference. Mmmmm Katsura~~~)

3. I'm CURSED when buying stuff from this fandom:
Fuuuuuck, my artbooooook T____T And Amazon UK won't notify me WTF.

I'll go and finish Phoenix Wright now or something.
taotrooper: A wizard with a T-shirt that says "actually I am a rocket wizard" (Ponder / nerdy T-shirt)
1. Okay, this is how the fanlisting collective layout I was making last night will look like. It's a bit weird.

Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us

Incidentally, the original image was a sketch with some random red. I colored over most of it.

2. Why the hell did I start watching Lovely Complex, from all things? O_o I don't get myself.

3. This Discworld fanclip pwns. Run Rincewind run. Watch it till the very end. Ah, y si no hablan inglés no hay excusas porque tiene subtítulos. (You can turn the subs off clicking the CC button, by the way)

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Eriol / silly large hats can be badass)
Happy birthday-by-choice, Eriol! :D

...What can I say, it's tradition for me to write some shit about Eriol on March 23, be it genfics or rants or whatever. This year I had no plot to think about, so I wiki'ed famous events for that day, wondering how the fuck I could fill the Eriol-and-Fujitaka-have-different-birthdays issue in a funny way. The rest came naturally, by tying knots. Introducing Spinel nerding over mythology, and Nakuru as a Duchovny fangirl TV-phile, and yet another Tolkien stupidity -this time with CANON links rubbing in my face, go figure.

Anyway, I found Pratchett paperback books on the supermarket. I had read all of them because those are in the public library, but it's good to have them myself. I got Soul Music because it's got the first Susan appearance and it's so made of win, and The Last Continent because that's one weird book and talking with [livejournal.com profile] laurus_nobilis the other day about Ponder Stibbons ♥ the wizards made me crave this badly.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yuuko / Magnolia scent)
Changed the sidebar of my journal layout. Since I've been goofing around with the Pratchett butterflies a lot, what's a bit more of the chaos theory to match Yuuko's prettiness? The seagull randomness was taken from here.

Note to self: Re-read Clover, so you remember why you liked/felt pity for the original Suu, before CLAMP set their claws on her in Tsubasa. And hell, I did like kinda-evil!Oruha in Outo a lot. But this world is just bizarre, so I dunno.
