taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Obligatory Disney icon)

Why would you eat a Slowpoke's tail?

For some reason I can't fathom, I went and bought SoulSilver. Why, self; you have never finished a Pokémon game in your life. And I still have Final Fantasy 6 and like a dozen endings of Chrono Trigger to do on the NDS.

I went with Totodile as my starter because I like water pokeymans.

The studio that made the Don Bluth movies (it was called Sullivan Bluth at the time) used to be in Ireland and when I was a kid I dreamed of working there when I grew up! Little did I know how different the world of animation would be by the time I did grow up. The Secret of NIMH was my favourite film as a kid, though it did scare the crap out of me. I'd love to see it again.

Awww, you didn't like the Wererabbit?

[identity profile] kryptyd.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 02:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Also it amuses me that there is a "Dark Age" of Disney. I always thought they just had crap films and good films, the crap ones of which I categorised as not "proper" Disney. Obviously Robin Hood is an anomaly in the Dark Age because that was awesome.

I have NIMH downloaded but I haven't been in the mood to watch it yet. But man, it sounds nifty to have had a company like that in your country! I wanted to work on the video game industry when I was little, but I went through something similar when I saw how complicated is to code then :|

I didn't hate it, but to me it was dull. Then again, the charm of Wallace and Gromit has always eluded me.

I think there are crap movies in all 'ages' of Disney. Their Robin Hood is awesome and is tied with Men in Tights as my favorite version of Hood.

Ooooh love this meme. I've been seeing a bunch of animated movies lately, so this will be interesting (also yay for having a list I can use to watch more of them!).

Meet the Robinsons is awesome, I think you may like it. Bolt is not bad either. I'm tempted to complete the list, there's not even Horton Hears a Who! listed :( (or Ice Age... which is just confusing)

I recently re-watched Road to El Dorado and it makes me really ashamed to ship het in this thing too. Idk, I like the guys' bromance too much to ship them kjhds;jkldf :(

Is Sword of the Stranger alright, then? Also, I've got a cam rip of How to Train Your Dragon. The video is OK, but the sound is rather bad... Got it from Demonoid.

This list is so incomplete it's not even funny. I suspect it's the same list they did as a meme a year or two ago, but adding Up and Princess and the Frog.

I'll check those movies, then! I admit I haven't considered them because non-Pixar Disney 3D films seem kinda visually creepy to me.

Awww, don't feel ashamed! Chel is hot and Chel/Tulio is really cool and sexy. I also love Miguel and Tulio as BFF as they are.

It's sort of Seirei no Moribito meets Rurouni Kenshin meets every anime samurai/kung-fu flick ever, sans romance and more family-like dynamics. It's definitely flawed, but I thought it was quite nice.

[identity profile] jupiterk.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
[X] The Princess and the Frog (2009) (were the pacing better, I'd have bolded it)

LMFAO THIS
god the pacing in that film made me so sad.

It went so fast through the bayou, how could they fall in love like that! Which okay, every other Disney princess romance is love at first sight and this is better, but they're so different I couldn't buy it. Which depresses me because it's totally my kind of pairing (snarky combo of hardworking awesome lady and sparkly flirty dork)

[identity profile] jupiterk.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 08:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah :( the only reason I bought it is cause at the end they got the restaurant all built up and they seemed happy enough so yeah.

The ending (and beginning) of their relationship was awesomesauce but there was much needed for the middle :( They could've been my favorite Disney pairing ever, had they bonded more naturally.

Good camrip of HTTYD? Answer: Yes. First link on isohunt will get you what you're looking for. Russian version is better re: sound quality, but the link for it has vanished. That said, current English rip is pretty damn good.

How many times have I watched it? Uuuh, between my Russian rip and theaters, lots. It's just that awesome.

The former, too depressing. The latter, boring and I already explained above.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, but they're both my childhood. Wererabbit indirectly, obviously, but I had the original shorts taped from when they aired on PBS, and PBS = childhood for me.

Suggestion: Don't watch Watership Down. It's darker and more serious than LBT. It's a great movie, but definitely not for someone who wants light-hearted. Though I would like to find someone else who has seen it...

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
TLBT is a part of everyone (in their twenties)'s childhood, I think. I still wouldn't see it again no matter how many TV reruns, and I was one of the few kids in the 80's-90's who was sort of indifferent to dinosaurs. Not that I disliked them, and could watch something with them, but wasn't crazy about them.

I remember I heard about Watership Down (book and movie) from you. Yeah, I'm better off watching happier movies/shows lately.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2010-04-16 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
I actually rewatched it for a class (on dinosaurs). Liked it better than the Disney movie Dinosaur, which we watched in class.

Watership Down is a cathartic story. Sure it has a happy ending, and a very satisfactory one, but the main characters go through hell to earn it.
