a) I see almost everyone is doing a 30 days meme of some sort. I kinda want to, but none of the ones I've seen convince me.

b) Judging from what I've seen on the flist, it's better that I don't retake Durarara. Not that interested anymore, anyway. /short attention span

c) Judging from what I've seen on the flist, it's better that I do retake this season of Doctor Who. I'm fucking amazed that all the ones who watched it actually agree that the finale was so good. Because let me tell you, you never do.

d) I miss my fandoms horribly. I crave to replay Apollo Justice, and run around in Okami, and finish Persona 4, and see more scans of pretty Tales of the Abyss shit -mangas, doujin, anything-, and find good fanworks in FMA -like I'd find many; what the hell, Pixiv. I should stop being a coward and actually finish Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou. I want more manga to read every month: Ouran is ending soon, Vinland Saga is on hiatus, Historie sucks so much lately, the rest aren't consistent.

e) I'm constantly sad, aggressive, lethargic, unable to concentrate on my project in the spare hours I have for myself. I'm scared of my project, since I don't understand what I have to do or how to fix it when it's not working, and the dumber I feel the more scared I am to research/study the language I'm coding in. Thus, I feel guilty I'm not doing shit. My state isn't helping my guilt and I have no idea how to pick myself up. At this pace, I'll never be able to have it done by September. Damn, I wanted to graduate. It's been 10 years since I finished high school.

Oh, do watch Doctor Who. It has avoided many could-have-gone-wrong plot points and the companions really are awesome... and unlike Ten, I do not want to slap Eleven.

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
I honestly have no idea how bad/good Ten really is. I watched three episodes with him and found him too boringly over the top, but the tales of woes about his manpain and how badly his companions end up don't seem to warm me up to watch him more. In my flist is a YMMV: some love him, some know he's flawed but still like him, some hate him. Meanwhile, no one seems to strongly dislike Eleven at all and I thought he was cute in the two episodes I saw.

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Ten is... very dividing. It's hard to rec him or warn for him, even knowing people's tastes. (Hell, even thinking of myself alone, there are episodes where I love him, episodes where I curse the bad writing for a good character, and episodes where I want to kick him in the face.)

For Eleven, on the other hand, at worst I've seen people be indifferent to him (mostly people who find the tone of season 5 boring) but no one who actually dislikes him.

[identity profile] pindrops.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
You could skip Ten, except that would mean no Donna (and she is so awesome) and no Blink. In any case I suggest watching Eleven and marathoning Ten episodes so you can skip the annoying ones.

The only thing: YOU NEED TO WATCH BLINK. It's possibly the best episode of season 3. The doctor is hardly in it but the villains come back with Eleven so it's worth watching. Also is directed by Moffat, the same guy that is now the main director. (The same guy of Are you my Mommy?")

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 06:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh no, I want to skip Donna. I'm sure she may be great and all, but I know how she ends up and I honestly don't want to get attached to companions on the shorter end of the stick. Yeah, this includes Martha.

The "angel statues" that are the ultimate Who nightmare fuel, correct?

[identity profile] pindrops.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
...if you don't want companions mistreated, yeah; skip Ten. Wilf is the only one more or less okay and he's got Donna!angst.

The angel statues are nightmare fuel because they are statues. It's a good example of scary done right.

Definitely give Doctor Who (series 5 and 4 if you do) another chance.
I did, and I've discovered that it's absolutely wonderful.

Durarara!'s not bad, but I'm too lazy/not invested enough to catch up on what I've missed, lol.
It's really not worth it unless you're dedicated enough to give it a shot.

And you haven't finished Persona 4 either? I've been meaning to but I'm more interested in the social links (which i'm running out of time to complete because im in like mid-december) than I am in the main plot.
I want to get the game over with so I can start a New Game Plus and actually max out all the links.

I don't think I want to watch season 4 when I know what happens with Donna before meeting her. This is exactly why I was waiting for a confirmation on how this(ese) companion(s) were going to be in the finale before warming up to anyone.

I wasn't enjoying it too much before, but I was mostly in for Celty. Then I heard her coolness and decisions are sacrificed by creepy twoo wub with doctor roommate kid and... I pass, meh. Plus, everyone raving mad about it before are not that impressed after finishing it.

Ah sorry, it's a second game to max the rest of my social links and do the compendium seriously. Except I was by the end of November and realized I couldn't max everything (particularly Moon and Temperance), bummer -good thing I did max them in the first game but still.

[identity profile] doxorz.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 09:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Aw, really? (regarding celty, who in the end, was the only character i cared about too, sob sob sob)
I actually ship Celty and Shinra so I'd probably appreciate the ending from a shippy standpoint, but hearing that is totally turning me off to actually watching it.

Speaking of Durarara!, Baccano! is by the same guy as Durarara!, but (imo), it's a bit better. The fandom's not as huge and its short (16 episodes, baww) but its a fun show and a great universe to get yourself immersed in, even if its only for a little while. I highly recommend it. (that is, if youre looking for a new anime to watch)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-30 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it might be YMMV. Most people on my flist don't ship that (and several of them prefer her with Shizuo), so it might be why I've seen so many of them disappointed. I just don't ship Celty, so it's kind of weird and offputting to see her with any human at all, as she's an immortal dullahan and all. IDK.

I love Baccano! to pieces, actually! ♥

[identity profile] doxorz.livejournal.com 2010-07-01 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, true, true.

Baccano! was absolutely wonderful.
It's such a shame that the fandom isn't bigger and more alive, since I left shipping Chane/Claire and Jacuzzi/Nice like burning and I was itching for some fanfic or something ;__;

Mmmm, maybe I should. Fue justo lo que hice accidentalmente con Discworld, leer el segundo de los magos desde un cliffhanger del primero. Menos mal, porque era más gracioso y el primero es como bleh.

I really liked Durarara, but I guess I'm in the minority. If you liked the first part, I'd recommend watching the second season as well, though in my mind the high point of the series was episode 12.

I wasn't quite enjoying it that much, mind you. I mean yes, it was a good series, but I was only sort of attached by Celty's subplot. What I've heard about how she was handled later doesn't convince me to finish it for her; maybe I misheard or people are overreacting, but it's not helping me.

[identity profile] the-great-elk.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 09:04 am (UTC)(link)
I... miss fandom too. I haven't read or watched anything consistently in so long, it kind of embarrasses me to think about it. For me it's a combination of general apathy and RP, since RP takes up most of my free time on the Internet :/ I also just haven't really gotten into any series in a long time, to the point where I want to be invested in its fandom.

I can't even blame RP like I used to, since I'm on a hiatus. If anything, it makes it worse since now I miss fandom AND RP at the same time.

[identity profile] the-great-elk.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Hahaha well :| I'd say work on your final project, but I'm way more prone to doing other fun things instead.

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 12:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't even do fun things or work on the project. I feel too guilty to do ANYTHING AT ALL WHATSOEVER. Vicious circle, etc. Anyway, we should stop talking about it, it's getting depressing and pathetic.

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
But you're not the only person I've seen who found the ending disappointing compared to the rest of the series. Since I wasn't liking it that much from the beginning, then there's no point.

[identity profile] kirarakim.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It was actually more like the entire 2nd half was disappointing. The ending was okay just not enough to make up for the rest I guess.
ext_387179: A sea turtle swimming (Default)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Um, still. If I was bored by the first half, which was the best... I'd rather spend my time in things I do enjoy more.

[identity profile] kirarakim.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 05:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I definitely wasn't trying to convince you to watch it. I was just saying my own feelings for it. :)
ext_387179: A sea turtle swimming (Default)

[identity profile] rainmage.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 05:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I wasn't thinking that. It was more like explaining why I don't feel like retaking it, and how people not liking the second half gives me some sort of excuse to not feeling guilty or something.

[identity profile] ayasugi-san.livejournal.com 2010-06-28 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Nthing the rec for Doctor Who Series 5. It's got a lot of everything great, the characters are wonderful, and even when it's punching you in the gut, there's always a way for the story to make up for it. This season's actually got me interested in apping a character!
