Holidays meme
Welp, it's December now. Let's do this like every year.
1. As for material stuff, uuuuuh. Wow, this year I don't have an Epic Fandom McGuffin that I feel I most own. So, I think artbooks. I still haven't gotten the Ace Attorney one in English, or the Avatar guidebook.
2. Books: light novels of anime I've liked, good Diana Wynne Jones books -particularly Chrestomanci, those novels I read this year pirated that I haven't found to buy -why doesn't my city have The Lost Hero-, mythology textbooks, volumes of manga I collect. You know.
3. A new external HDD or a Bluray player, because why not.
4. Recs in general. That pretty fanart page you think I should check out, that fanfiction about a character/pairing I love that doesn't suck, that manganime series I haven't read/watch but it screams me, that game that would won me over if I tried it, that Tumblr that's relevant to my interests. Man, really, you don't have to actually DO something yourself to make me happy, just by pointing out shit you think I'd dig is enough. Any media, any kind of fanworks (I tend to roll more to fic, but it doesn't matter). Hell, just a pixiv link is good enough, because I have no time to wade inin anything that's not Okamiden wangst, apparently.
5. Well, sure, I'll love you forever if you make drabbles/doodles of things I like by yourself, yet I feel I'm asking too much of you... and I never do anything for you guys... idk.
6. Icons or graphics. Make icons of something I like, thinking of me. I never get graphics as presents, so this would make me infinitely happy! ♥ Bonus points if it's a character you know I love but have no icons of them.
7. ...Just talk to me? I'm incredibly shy to reply sometimes, which is why I'm so bad at making friends out of my LJ flist. This also extends to IM thingies and sites outside LJ.
...I think that's it. Wow, this year WAS shorter. Most shit I really want is coming up next year. Funny enough, I did get a lot from my list last year. I have both Okami storybooks in paper and scans, I own Tsuioku no Jade, there was a fair amount of doujinshi scans around, I eventually got the last PJO book and a PHP book I haven't touched and the rest of Dead Like Me on DVD.
1. Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
2. Surf around your f-list (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
