Under the radar I'm reaching for the sky
I've realized I don't know most of my flist well, and this is why I'm never able to comment on this kind of memes. I feel sad about it.
Ah, that seasonal meme.
1. Make a post (public, friendslocked, filtered...whatever you're comfortable with) to your LJ. The post should contain your list of 10 holiday wishes. The wishes can be anything at all, from simple and fandom-related ("I'd love a Snape/Hermione icon that's just for me") to medium ("I wish for _____ on DVD") to really big ("All I want for Christmas is a new car/computer/house/TV.") The important thing is, make sure these wishes are things you really, truly want.
If you wish for real life things (not fics or icons), make sure you include some sort of contact info in your post, whether it's your address or just your email address where Santa (or one of his elves) could get in touch with you.
Also, make sure you post some version of these guidelines in your LJ, or link to this post (it'll be public) so that the holiday joy will spread.
2. Surf around your f-list (or friends of friends, or just random journals) to see who has posted their list. And now here's the important part:
If you see a wish you can grant, and it's in your heart to do so, make someone's wish come true. Sometimes someone's trash is another's treasure, and if you have a leather jacket you don't want or a gift certificate you won't use--or even know where you could get someone's dream purebred Basset Hound for free--do it. You needn't spend money on these wishes unless you want to. The point isn't to put people out, it's to provide everyone a chance to be someone else's holiday elf--to spread the joy. Gifts can be made anonymously or not--it's your call. There are no rules with this project, no guarantees, and no strings attached. Just...wish, and it might come true. Give, and you might receive. And you'll have the joy of knowing you made someone's holiday special.
- Let's begin with the impossible. THAT SILLY OKAMI STORYBOOK. SCANS OR IN MATERIAL OR TEXT TRANSLATION. WHATEVER. JUST THIS. Why is there always a metacanon storybook on my holidays wishlist...?
- More chapters of Tsuioku no Jade, be it raw or scanlation. Incidentally, the first volume is out and no one has scanned the rest yet. The thing is pretty hard to find in non-JP!Amazon online manga stores, also.
- Gen/gag doujinshi of my fandoms. This is the year I went into fandoms with a doujin culture that doesn't make me want to kick puppies, so I began a tiny collection (I have exactly 10). I doubt I'll buy any for some time, so I'd like to see scans of anything nice.
- Recs in general. That pretty fanart page you think I should check out, that fanfiction about a character/pairing I love that doesn't suck, that manganime series I haven't read/watch but it screams me, that game that would won me over if I tried it. Man, really, you don't have to actually DO something yourself to make me happy, just by pointing out shit you think I'd dig is enough. Any media, any kind of fanworks (I tend to roll more to fic, but it doesn't matter). Hell, just a pixiv link is good enough, because I have no time to wade in.
- Well, sure, I'll love you forever if you make drabbles/doodles of my stuff by yourself, yet I feel I'm asking too much of you... and I never do anything for you guys... idk.
- Icons. Make icons of something I like, thinking of me. I never get graphics as presents, so this would make me infinitely happy! ♥ Bonus points if it's a character you know I love but have no icons of them.
- Mythology, because I'm on a kick. Like, textbooks about mythology, stories reconstructing mythology, links to good websites about mythology, your favorite myth. Any pantheon is fine.
- ...Just talk to me? I'm incredibly shy to reply sometimes, which is why I'm so bad at making friends out of my LJ flist. And I've been feeling horribly depressed lately, so I guess concrit on something old I did or some love in any of those memes would be... dunno, nevermind, I sound like an idiot fishing for comments.
- I have no idea what else I want so. Let's go back to material shit! I'm behind on manga I collect. Rurouni Kenshin kanzenban 06+, Ouran03+, Gintama08+, Aria03+. All this in Spanish edition, I mean.
- Misc. Moar books: Pratchetts I don't have, House of Many Ways, the rest of the Inkheart trilogy, the fourth Percy Jackson, light novels in English. Moar DVD sets: The IT Crowd, Black Books, s1 of Futurama, s2 of Dead Like Me. Moar reference: PHP-MySQL books.
I wish I had the time these holidays to go through your lists and give you something, but I don't think I'll be able to even do those request icons before the year ends. Sigh.
