In which I mourn many things, including my weekend

1) RIP Diana Wynne Jones ;_; Thank you for filling my bookshelf with fantasy, fairytale deconstructions, and metrosexual wizards. I will miss you, magnificent lady. I should read more of her books, um.

2) I feel kind of bad because there are a lot of dragons in this gen, but I just fished a level 53 Dragonair and it's my favorite dragon and I want to try him out :| I wanted to use only Unova kids and I was doing so well... I don't know what to do. I still had to catch a Deino to try them out, actually.

3) Hey, guys?

REC ME THINGS YOU THINK WOULD MAKE ME HAPPY!

I realized that lately all the games I've played recently have always some dark element that leaves angst and tragedy lingering, and my mind (and the fanworks) always returns to those. It's funny because they're all fluffy and for the NDS, LOL.

I don't mean games alone, though. Actually, anything but games is preferable. Books, manga, TV shows, movies. I have so much stuff to read/watch that I feel overwhelmed and this is why I've been gaming lately. I don't know what to jump into because there's so much to try and I'm eternally undecided.

Things I've read/watched and loved before are fair game too. And if you don't know me enough, then you could tell me what you've been enjoying lately. But no "Rocks Fall, Everyone Dies" recs, please. INB4 people tossing Magical Madoka and Homestruck anyway.

Whoa, that was a total miss on my part! D: I wasn't sure that you were entirely sick of games, and that's usually the only medium I can recommend from (since I don't watch television, barely read new manga series, and consistently pick out depressing books).

Being a big strategy/tactical RPG fan, Disgaea isn't really a strategy game so much as it's a "grind for a while, then ride meteors down on your foes" deal. The level-grinding is a pain all its own, though, so I can definitely understand if that's not appealing to you, either.

I'm thinking, I'm thinking...um, have you tried out Otoyomegatari yet? The works of Don Marquis? The Meek?

It's not that I'm sick, it's more that I marathoned through Ghost Trick, then Pokémon, and then Okamiden, so I was hoping for more non-gaming recs than the ones I'm getting because I'm so burned out. Probably sick isn't the word I should've used. More like... I need mindless stuff where my hands and brain aren't doing much. And that they don't cost 40€ each.

Aww, grinding. I have so many RPGs unfinished because I have to grind. So I guess not, sorry ;;

Never heard of any of those but I'll check them out!

ETA: Ah, I see, I said "I had enough of games" and I meant to say "I had enough games". My bad, I apologize.
