Question about kanji/character
Apr. 28th, 2006 10:03 amThis kanji/character, 天
It's pronounced "ten" on On reading. And it's on every fucking name with the syllables "ten" in RG Veda (say, Taishakuten, Bishamonten, Kisshouten, Koumokuten, Zouchouten, Kumaraten... and of course, Ten-oh.)
It seems the Spanish translations have -ten translated as "general" (except for Kisshouten, duh.) But I haven't found, be it in Japanese or Chinese, that ten -or tian- might mean general. Is that an artistic license?
In every source, I'm finding "ten" meaning heaven, sky, imperial and similar words. Which makes a lot of sense for, say, Ten-oh (name meaning king of heavens or imperial king, which fits his ending.) But not so much for the others, although I can see why for Kisshouten. Not so much for the warriors.)
Any thoughts? What about your country's translations?

So this time, I've got nothing tangible to complain at, plotwise.
*checks her temperature* Nope, still normal. My nose is running a bit, but it's because I just sneezed.
Of course, the animation was really wonky, and anime!Yuuko's funny scenes have a lot to envy manga!Yuuko's (sometimes the expression was dead-on, sometimes it looked clumsy), but I guess that's normal in this show already.
Oh, and finally some official confirmation on that rumor about Doumeki's birthday on March third being canon according to the speshul CLAMP-net locked page. Sounds like someone has to update some character's profile. *procrastinates*
Oh, and every single episode manages to get Mokona less like Larg. Which is good. Only an instructed, intelligent mind like Larg is capable of noticing the importance of being dissed by a fortune teller. TV!Mokona was only annoyed afterwards (as in popping vein on forehead, not pensative frown) because Mokona is Mokona and not a plushie. Yeah, Mokona is Mokona; just not Mokona Modoki, you know.
But all and all, it had no plothole this time.
And also, in the preview, we got to see Oden Kitsune Sr. who looked good. I saw Doumeki holding the broken arrow, and Watanuki's legs when he stumbled on the oden stand. No clues about Watanuki going alone or with somebody else.
Oh, and the winged backpack made it! Not enough of a crossover, I guess.Even though He-who-must-not-be-named's secondary reincarnation can sew one of those.
ETA: GIP.
