Kanji stupidity

Spelling in Japanese for Clow Country is in kanji. I investigated; is this right?

玖 (ku): beautiful black jewel; nine
楼 (rou): watchtower; lookout; high building

In other news, stupid ideas for animated icons are hitting me. Expect this flash animation spinoff coming soon:

Syaoran: What happened?
Kurogane: Someone set us up the bomb.
Fye: We get signal.
Syaoran: It's you!
Kyle: How are you, gentlemen? All your feather are belong to us.
Syaoran: What you say?!
Kyle: You have no time to survive make your time. Ha ha ha ha!

I'm a dumbass ^^UU And I'm tempted to do a "lions and panthers only in Tomoeda" one.

Do you reckon gay marriage is legal in Clow? It'd be great :D

Well, you know that short scene around about chapter thirty? When we get a brief flashback to Touya in that (massive) bed recovering from the poison and Yukito in the bedchamber attending him?

Touya says something like the High Priest is the 'One who protects' and the King is the 'One who fights for his country.' That kind of makes me think there is some sort of mystical connection between the two roles, that, maybe, the roles of King and High Priest are two sides of the same coin in the religion of Clow Country.

In which case any further bonds between them would only be seen as a very good thing by the people of Clow.

...I have been doing way too much world building for Clow Country, can you tell?

Oh, I really like that theory!

It would fit with theory #3 of this post, by the way. Hmmm...

[identity profile] katharos-8.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 10:42 am (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...

I was actually thinking on a variation of that... That Clow was both King and High Priest and that was the way his Uber-Powerfulness was expressed in this incarnation. See, if the High Priest is the Moon, then the King must be the Sun. And you know how Clow's staff has both the sun and the moon...? And how High Priest Yukito's staff has only the moon...?

Yeah yeah, am a dork.

I noticed that too!

I've thought about that theory, too.

...I've thought a lot of theories *headdesk*

I love the sun/moon symbolism in Clow!T/Y, I really do. Actually, there's a lot of opposite symbols that---

...

This deserves its own post. Yeah. I'll do that.

World building is good! <3 I tend to do the same thing, but with individual characters. Besides, I'd really like to know what's behind Clow Country: their system, their people, their history (even if the ruins won't let us), the way the monarchy works. I was even thinking the other day "wow, they used cuneiform writing!"

I'm a dork.

[identity profile] laurus-nobilis.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Well, if the King can make/change the laws... ;) In fact, I can even see *Clow* making it legal, because he got A Feeling about Touya and Yuki. Or something.

The jewel thing made me think of Eriol. Then I remembered there's no Eriol in TRC (yet). But still, gotta love the pattern there.

Yet more jewels. Besides, isn't the world's most famous ruby spinel called "the Black Prince's Ruby", and it's on the royal crown of Great Britain?

...Black Prince. Royal Crown.

I'm amazed the British winks in Eriol's magic can be translated to Clow country, and particularly to King Touya and his father. Damn Ohkawa.

I love when they do those little things. That's why they can get away with their "names are important" stuff.

[identity profile] quitelife00.livejournal.com 2005-05-12 01:43 pm (UTC)(link)
If it's legal in Japan (which I must research), it's likely that it's legal in Clow.

I think it's not legal in Japan. If it was legal, then more gay characters in anime/manga would get married. Tokyo would be Asia's Amsterdam or something.

It seems gay marriage will be legal here in Spain ^^ I foresee a lot of couples visiting Mallorca or Madrid for their weddings.
