The joys of corrupting minds
Oct. 28th, 2005 01:58 pmI think I've mentioned I've been into Fullmetal Alchemist even before there was an actual and wanky fandom. Hell, even before there was an anime. When I started the series, there were only scanlations up to chapter 4 of the manga at Toriyama World. The title sounded interesting, I had nothing else to read that day, and I said to myself "why not? I can always delete it if it's crap". And I got addicted from that small amount. Little I knew it was going to become a mass phenomenon and everybody was going to know (or heard) about it. I'm still surprised, when I think about it.
That's why it's so painful to me to see people ignoring the manga or saying Arakawa can't draw or how uncool it is because it doesn't have. It really is.
Anyway. It's always awesome to get people introduced to the FMA manga, whether they're/'ll be able to watch the anime or not. Actually, sometimes it's better to stick to one canon, although I wouldn't suggest people who has only read the manga to peek at big FMA comms. Just the homunculus differences are enough to kill unprepared neurones.
I've recluited or helped to recruit three persons to the (manga) fandom this year, at least (
laurus_nobilis,
gingetsu and
ayasugi_san.) That without counting those who checked it out a while ago and resumed because of me pushing, those are too many. The best part about gaining more adepts?
Friend: Finally, I just finished the manga!
Me: Yay! :D
[we discuss last installment's cliffhanger]
Friend: By the way, when does the next chapter come out?
Me: Next month, around the 12th.
Friend: What?! *dead*
So cute! Baby's first FMA withdrawal! The joys of hooking people up to a monthly series. I love it so much. That way, I won't feel lonely when I'm refreshing torrents around a certain time of the month. Aren't I evil?
Aww, come on. They needed Arakawa's genious in their lives! And the anime-only fans can understand how Xing characters pwn every single one of Bones' OCs and Squeenix's videogame Sues. *gets killed by Alfons Heisomething's fangirls*
