taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Pkmn / loev them Dragonairs)
Okay, hey!

I've just started a new SoulSilver game, after a whole day of transferring my old pokes to another name. I'm sentimental, okay? So far I have one badge and here is my party:

→ Quilava (m, Leo)
→ Mareep (f, Amparo)
→ Sentret (f, Samantha)
→ Hoothoot (m, Archimedes)
→ Bellsprout (m, Vittorino)
→ Wooper (f, Guadalupe)

It's very temporary, but yeah. Cyndaquil line because I have lousy luck with fire pokes in SS.

Lately I've been thinking about American comics a little and my tiny dabbles, maybe because of the DC bullshit going on. There was this one time where my brother asked me why I liked DC over Marvel, and in truth I... don't? He just caught me reading a DC series at the time. I think I like/dislike them equally, and I go through the following loop when I get into something comics:

a. Pick a series or two, maybe something you started long ago but never continued, and enjoy it
b. Something truly awful happens
b1. It got canceled/rebooted
b2. The one character(s) you like is(are) now fucked beyond repair
b3. b2, then b1 (yeah, it's happened)
c. Swore off the company (DC/Marvel) and drop anything else by them you were reading, in resentment or fear of what they might do to that too
d. Hey, what does the other company (Marvel/DC) has right now that I might like?
e. GOTO a

Which is incredibly bratty, I know. But I'm not a comics fan but a casual fan of very few titles that happen to be comics, so I don't give a shit.

But in short, when people ask me DC or Marvel, I feel like they're asking me Shounen Jump or CLAMP. They've both made series I've liked, but they're still pretty much awful people and I should know better.

Meanwhile, I soothe my pain over Booster Gold being canceled and Rip Hunter never existing by checking what kid!Loki is getting into at Journey into Mystery. My coping methods are just weird but I regret nothing... until something stupid happens and I do GOTO a.

I've been a seriously lame LJ user lately. Guess I've been easily distracted recently. So let's try to sum shit up.

TV stuff (and some comics tossed in)

So Doctor Who cliffhanger. I'm surprised that my crazy theories (and almost everybody else's, actually) back from the first two-parter AND some rumors I heard turned out to be both true. It was an epic mid-finale episode anyway, but a huge part of my thoughts are pretty much:

Thin-veiled spoilers for Doctor Who AND the Booster Gold series )

In any case and as much as an asshole he might be, the way Moffat trolls people over Twitter is hella amusing.

Gaming stuff

On Friday I went to a clearance sale at PC City and got Hotel Dusk 2 Last Window: The Secret of Cape West and Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep at a pretty cheap price. My brothers lost their PSP's memory stick, so guess I won't be playing KH until I buy one.

So, E4! Nothing I care about for Microsoft, don't own current Sony consoles nor I'm going to. The Wii U controller is a little WTF. In any case, I'm all pumped for Skyward Sword and Kid Icarus Uprising.

Also, I'm kinda depressed because the Ocarina of Time remake comes out for my birthday, but hell if I'm going to buy a 3DS. I'd rather wait for the mandatory lite version, unless I see a fair pack with a worthy game.

Book stuff

I've read the first book of The Dresden Files. All my friends love the series in a masochistic way, but so far I'm not sure if I'll like it enough. On the meantime I started The Red Pyramid. I had started this novel with Greek gods as protagonists, but after Athena willingly losing her virginity in chapter two I'm not sure if I want to continue for the trainwreck.

Random stuff

WHY is the largest mall in Spain (and third largest in Europe) in my city? This place isn't important! It makes no fucking sense!

Um, so. I idled out LJ for some reason. Sorry for not commenting lately, I have been reading you guys regardless.

a) Oh, most of you have already heard about a Fullmetal Alchemist sidestory coming up next month ♥ I've seen idiots complaining about Arakawa milking the cow (pun probably not intended) but anyway, haters to the left. I'm so fucking excited! And I'll be agonizing over whom it will be about. I don't care as it's just more goodness, although I'd like to see minor characters or something in Xing. Or both.

b) With FMA and soon Ouran, I'm kind of lost. I need something to look forward to read every month. I mean sure, I have my historical Afternoon seinen, but both Historie and Vinland Saga are going slow and even boring lately...

c) ...So in an attempt to give more excitement to my months without resorting to the inconveniences of shounen, I just had an affair with some American comics. Needless to say, it backfired fiercely. From DC I'm only keeping Booster Gold, I love it and feel so alone in this. And I'm hoping to see Jaime Reyes and the rest of the Blue Beetle peeps one day in something non-Teen Titans (I tried, then got kicked in the balls when I felt safe.) From Marvel I, um, I'll probably finish the Siege event (shuddup, I like Asgard-in-Oklahoma), maybe keep Thor for the lulz, and read spoilers for the Young Avengers... but fuck me if I get more involved with that messy mindfuck 'verse. I just concluded Marvel is the manry, Western version of CLAMP and no one will convince me otherwise.

To show my point? Doctor Strange is a Clow descendant. HOLY SHIT WHAT IS THIS ARRAY I DON'T EVEN.

d) More news on Okamiden with a new trailer. trailer spoilers )

e) Is it me or Sherlock BBC and Inception have eaten the Internet?

e.1) I still haven't downloaded Sherlock, but I'm such a geek I've been reading Watson's blog and Sherlock's website. And I've taken pride on the fact I've solved the three hidden messages on the same day they are released. They're way too easy to me, but it might have to do with the fact I liked secret codes since I was little and I already knew the first and the third system. The second I figured out with Google. Sherlock is right, this stalker is BORING.

e.2) I did watch Inception (at the cinema, even) and it didn't leave me much of a impression. I even disliked the ending. I think I'll just quote what I said to my family yesterday at lunch: "Do you guys realize we're doing exactly what Nolan intended? He left all those vague threads and plotholes hanging so people wouldn't stop talking about his movie. And it IS working." I also believe he wrote Tom Hardy's dialogs with Joseph Gordon-Levitt all slashy on purpose so this would have a fandom. Again, apparently it is working too.

1) Thanks for the congrats yesterday ♥ (and this is the cue for the rest to say it belated, if you want! I don't mind!) As birthdays go, it was good at day and and lousy at night. Oh well, I wasn't expecting anything special so it was cool in a general sense.

2) I still need opinions about my blog plan. Even "don't care"s help, actually.

3) This World Cup? SO WEIRD. Just saying.

4) Morty's gym was easier than I expected, huh. Then again, I brought my Drowzee and my Togetic and went psychic on ghosties.

4.1) Again, ignore this.

5) Finished reading Blue Beetle, and while I really liked it and every single character in it? Man, I so don't have the patience to follow a DC character to other series. Welp, back to download more 80's!Wonder Woman.

Top 3 of things I had never thought I'd be saying, but have actually come out of my mouth in the last seven days:

a) I really need Alphonse/Mei fanfic and fanart like burning.
Any recs, guys? And BTW... GDI Pixiv, you disappoint.

b) Dude, Wonder Woman's run in the 80's was so moe.
Yeah, I started reading the post-Crisis stuff. Seriously, she's so adorable! Also: where has this comic and its awesome females and its cool Greek mythology butchery been all my life? *_*

c) HOLY CRAP, I'M SO BUYING A 3DS!
I was so underwhelmed by this console until half an hour ago, when they threw motherfucking Kid Icarus on my face. OMG Brawl!Piiiiiiiiit~
