taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Persona / happy Teddie)
Maaaaaaaaaaan, our Internet connection suuuuuucks.

a) Persona 4 anime, which is almost old news by now. Honestly, I do understand why the mistrust because it's very easy to get it wrong. But it all looks and sounds SO SHINY. I don't care if it's bad or good, bring it on.

Too bad this came out the day before my trip. I missed a lot of Yu puns on Tumblr because of that. I don't mind the name that much although I like Souji Seta better. Yu is puntastic, so it's great. I do have a bone to pick with Narukami because in my heart of heart, I will always link it to Matantei Loki. *will use Thor in his roster the next time she plays P4*

b) OMG. Rurouni Kenshin anime project to be developed. IS THIS THE REAL LIFE, OR IT'S JUST FANTASY? PLEASE DO NOT SUCK, WHATEVER YOU ARE. I'm not sure I want a manga-compatible remake, unlike the rest of the fandom. I imagine it would be less Brotherhood and more DBZ Kai because shit is old-ish. The Jinchuu arc would be fucking excellent and I'll be sad if it has nothing to do with it. But you know, as long as it's not original garbage with crazy stuff (like fighting religious Mary Sue terrorists, German templars, or magical WTFeng Shui) I'm all for it.

c) Wow, the Kuragehime manga is being scanlated so fast! I love that.

d) The Dream World in PKMN sucks major balls. No, sorry, it's so boring it's a chore to do stuff there. Also, am I the only one who feels like it's a glorified Facebook flash game? You even play it online in a computer, FFS! I wanted to do that shit in my fucking NDS anywhere, you idiots! Not that it would be fun anyway, because one you're past the minigames and old pokes with new movesets/abilities? It's STILL a Facebook game! Like, you plant shit, you decorate your house, you visit your friends... it's fucking Pokéfarmville!! DW sickens me.

Go to your archives/calendar, take the first post you made each month and write the first line of each in your post. This is your year in review.

I bet it's going to be boring )

Now let's talk fandom for a bit, if I may.

i. Yesterday the anime of Kuragehime ended. As it obviously couldn't conclude the main conflict in one episode (mind you, not even in the manga is resolved), they went with a cheap copout that sort of annuls most things the main characters have been working on and it leaves some plotlines too open. Except for this episode, which did adapt well the few parts that were adapted, I do like the anime. They did what they could, but they couldn't finish it well for the lack of time. It's a pity about some parts that couldn't make it to the anime, like cutting for tiny manga spoiler )

But that's okay because I found the raws of volume 6 and spoiled myself on what they really did next. I love that Mayaya (my favorite Amars, NGL) had this much spotlight. And my biggest issue with Shu/Tsukimi is gone now, although I still like her better with Kuranosuke.

I wish scanlations could come out faster. Now how do I get my fix?

ii. I also read Afterschool Charisma, and my god is it a mindfuck and I really need to know what happens next D: It also made me realize that EVERYTHING WITH CLONES GETS MINDFUCK-Y. And full of weird issues. This series' premise is basically Let's Clone Historical Figures (As Teen Bishounen And Bishoujo) And Put Them In a Psychological Thriller, so the combination of clones + thriller + conspiracies = MINDFUCK x 10. This is pretty much the anti-Tales of the Abyss approach, where the story tells you that clones must become their own person. In ASC, we have clones wanting to, but not being allowed by the system as they're not even thought as real human beings with rights. Everyone is "disposable" and if they wish to be individuals, they must be replaced. It's quite depressing even without the menace on their heads.

But still, this manga is a damn good seinen if you like that genre and mindfuck (or Weird Al's "I Think I'm a Clone Now"). Of course, you have to switch off your brain to the bishie and forget how the original people really looked like, or you'll die of an ulcer. Some people are pretty much unrecognizable until they tell you who they are, so you're warned.

iii. I immediately read Kame Odoru (I am a Turtle) in the same website of the former, to rinse the taste of impending doom. I do love 4 koma comedy with animals and silliness, so it was a good 10-minute waste. That turtle is so fucking cute!

SO YOU KEEP ON TROLLING, CLAMP. Let's talk a bit about Gate 7 and pretend I'm still in this fandom. Dibs on the "megane guy is a Clow descendant" theo-- oh wait, he totally is, this is not 2004 anymore. Nevermind then |D Of course, by the looks of it, there's no way in hell this could ever be a one-shot like they originally said. They either planned to serialize it from the beginning, or they changed their minds and redid it from scratch. I lean to the latter: by that time XXXHOLiC or Kobato might be ending, so they need a new cash cow to milk. So when I heard this thing was going to continue, I just grinned, shook my head, and thought "oh you!" And of course the characters look really cute so far, but the X vibes of whatever the premise is don't bode well for them. My favorite character design is the light-haired Kurogane lookalike but I love megane boy's ;o; faces. But yeah, I don't want to get attached because it is CLAMP and I have moved on and I know better. Or so I hope.

INCIDENTALLY, MORE OKAMIDEN BULLSHIT. I don't know, guys. I'm both fascinated and terrified by this stupid game. I even check the Pixiv tag. Either way, the second weirdest WTF ever in an interview is that in here, Eshiro said that the plot is sort of inspired by the film Stand By Me. Yeah... I don't even. Ah, another thing is that the American cover is out, and probably the Konohana cherry tree in the background of the Japanese cover isn't badass and manly enough to make it. Image comparison under cut. ) I think, though, it could be a lot worse and it sort of looks like Okami's Western cover for the PS2 anyway. (For the record, I also think the Western cover is an improvement from the Japanese which is not a common occurrence in video games.) Oh well... Stand By Me, really? Yeah, so compatible with the "ancient faux!Japan with magical godmode wolves" setting.

But let's talk about shinier things that perhaps don't kick me in the ovaries! My current anime/manga obsession is Kuragehime. I don't even like josei! But I really like everyone a lot and I can't wait until more of gets released. I'll probably do a lengthier post when the next episode is out all my impressions until now.
