0% surprised, y'all.

BTW, did you hear what the new Kenshin anime is about? Maaaan, I'm so fucking disappointed! That's the ONE ARC that was done splendidly in the TV anime, what's the point?! (beyond testing waters by playing safe, which I still think it's a bad way to do so in any case)
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Persona / happy Teddie)
Maaaaaaaaaaan, our Internet connection suuuuuucks.

a) Persona 4 anime, which is almost old news by now. Honestly, I do understand why the mistrust because it's very easy to get it wrong. But it all looks and sounds SO SHINY. I don't care if it's bad or good, bring it on.

Too bad this came out the day before my trip. I missed a lot of Yu puns on Tumblr because of that. I don't mind the name that much although I like Souji Seta better. Yu is puntastic, so it's great. I do have a bone to pick with Narukami because in my heart of heart, I will always link it to Matantei Loki. *will use Thor in his roster the next time she plays P4*

b) OMG. Rurouni Kenshin anime project to be developed. IS THIS THE REAL LIFE, OR IT'S JUST FANTASY? PLEASE DO NOT SUCK, WHATEVER YOU ARE. I'm not sure I want a manga-compatible remake, unlike the rest of the fandom. I imagine it would be less Brotherhood and more DBZ Kai because shit is old-ish. The Jinchuu arc would be fucking excellent and I'll be sad if it has nothing to do with it. But you know, as long as it's not original garbage with crazy stuff (like fighting religious Mary Sue terrorists, German templars, or magical WTFeng Shui) I'm all for it.

c) Wow, the Kuragehime manga is being scanlated so fast! I love that.

d) The Dream World in PKMN sucks major balls. No, sorry, it's so boring it's a chore to do stuff there. Also, am I the only one who feels like it's a glorified Facebook flash game? You even play it online in a computer, FFS! I wanted to do that shit in my fucking NDS anywhere, you idiots! Not that it would be fun anyway, because one you're past the minigames and old pokes with new movesets/abilities? It's STILL a Facebook game! Like, you plant shit, you decorate your house, you visit your friends... it's fucking Pokéfarmville!! DW sickens me.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Teddie / puntastic!)
Agsadfghsfh. In three days I've managed to get to the part I was in Persona 4, when I played the NTSC burned version. Maybe it's the fact I paid to own that game what made me so determined. I still suck enormously, of course, and Shadow Kanji beat the crap out of me. My main issue in dungeons is how I run out of SP so fast and the items to replenish are hard to get or made of fail -there must be something other than TaP cans. Fuck you, kitsune, with that price you could fill up my HP as well.

My head hurts, so... I'll take a break with that. I should play a Tales tomorrow instead, to relax.

[livejournal.com profile] kirarakim tagged me a while ago for these memes.

the disney meme

I really SHOULD study today, be productive. It's not like I can play videogames or anything, unless it's that game with the anorexic asshole and the looks-like-an-ugly-Kaworu godmode creep. I could make icons, but I'm lazy.

On the other hand, rereading Rurouni Kenshin up to the end of the fight with Sano awakened my love for the series and the titular character ♥ It's fucking expensive (10 euros, 22 volumes), but the books are huge and pretty and it was the first manga ever I read. Besides, I never owned the whole thing. The random color pages are nothing spectacular, especially compared to manga coloring you see in fandoms, and they only used like five colors and shit to paint everything. Yet for some stupid reason seeing his hair red makes me giddy like I was fifteen again. Maybe it's because it's Rurouni-fucking-Kenshin.

Also, because of Laurus I want to rewatch The Sword in the Stone. And I'm convinced this had to be Howl Jenkins' favorite movie when he was a little kid, and the reason he became a wizard AND a closet Arthurian geek later in life. Turning into animals is fun~~
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
Back home now.

1. Remember the thing about the cat being too fat? Apparently, it's true... he's overweighted for a Siamese-type (although it seems Jazz is a Tonkinese, not a pure Siamese). Either way, he got sick, and the vet just diagnosed him diabetes. Yup, the cat is diabetic. And now dealing with a special diet! No more turkey ham, kiddo.

2. I was planning to buy the new Rurouni Kenshin special edition, since I never got to buy the regular manga when it was released here. Except the price is 12€ each volume, and they're 22. I PASS! It hurts me because I was excited about it, but the publisher is nuts. With the cost of two volumes, I can get three of other series. Or even an artbook.

3. On the other hand, the Mushishi deluxe DVD pack for Spain is just so, so shiny. It even includes a really thick booklet with content/illustrations, and an exclusive postcard signed by the director. But the most amazing part?

Presentación: Caja de Madera. (Boxset layout: WOODEN BOX)

WOODEN?! O_O That's... it does sound awesome considering the series itself. On the other hand, it makes it even more expensive, I'm sure. I... really want to buy it, wooden box or not, but it's 70€. I've never bought an anime boxset before, but this one is so fucking amazing and one of a kind I'm even considering it even though I can't afford it.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kenshin / Hitokiri scars)
I forgot to mention that I've had the following dialog at least twice this weekend, regarding the Barcelona con, since it was featured in the news.

Close Relative: So, why didn't you go?
Me: I'd totally go, if you pay me the trip expenses!
CR: Oh, alright, I'll pay for it.

Now, what I don't know is if they were joking or not, because the first question is always in a mocking tone. I'll ask them next year in advance to see what happens. I'm betting they'll tell me to fuck off.

But anyway! Looks like Norma and Glénat -manga publishers here- are planning to fuck me in the butt. Like the former wasn't doing it already.

Están estudiando editar los artbooks de Full Metal Alchemist y Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle en 2008.

So by the time I'll be over with Furuba and most of my series will be on hold, they might flap artbooks at me. And since I'm a cheap bastard, I so will end up buying the Spanish editions instead of importing the originals.

Respecto a RG Veda, si está tardando en salir es porque la edición está siendo revisada por las mismas CLAMP. De hecho, han comentado que la edición será digitalizada y será una versión totalmente exclusiva para España con nuevas portadas y páginas a color.

Basically, they've been working on a re-edit of RG Veda for a while. Now they're saying that they have CLAMP supervising the new edition (not that I blame them, because I've heard awful stories about the first one, but a part of me wonders if it's true when they're so busy). Also, this edition will be so OMG only-for-Spain exclusive it'll be digitalized, and have color pages and "new covers". Okay then. Color pages are awesome, even if I'm sure they'll charge us extra and my wallet will BLEED. But regarding the covers, I'm certain it won't be new art, but taking a different illustration as a base. You know what would be really cool, Norma? If each cover was focused in a different character! :O So much of Ashura is bad for the stomach *nods* Like, we could have the six stars, Kujaku, Taishaku, Ashura-oh, and the last one can be an obligatory main pairing one or something else.

Holy craaaaaap, Rurouken in kanzenban edition! *____* This is terrible news for anyone but me, because I never got around to buy Kenshin, and now I can with the pretty color pages. Of course, it'll be sooooo expensive and my wallet will be ANEMIC by then.

Oh, and I'll get around the Halloween meme tomorrow. Now to bed.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kenshin / Hitokiri scars)
Week of Doom is over. Still, we'll have "fun" since we have a lot of practice work to hand out the Friday after Holy Week. Ugh.

But anyway, suddenly I started craving Rurouni Kenshin today. But it wasn't the series itself, but certain parts of it. I was just thinking about my own metafandom, and the trends my mind follows. It's no surprise for anyone I get easily obsessed (or at least love a lot) over minor groups of people and/or random countries. So I was trying to go back, and understand when did this trend started, and with what fandom.

Probably the easy answer was "with Card Captor Sakura". But was it really? I thought about earlier anime/manga and series/movies/books I anjoyed, without success.

Then I got to Rurouni Kenshin. Well, I normally root for the groups the favorite character is in. So when I first read/watched it, I adored the familiarity of the Kenshingumi, as Kenshin is my favorite character, and most of the stuff I shipped in was in there.

But liking the main characters a lot doesn't really count, because I was trying to understand the love for kinda-underrated-by-fandom groups.

Then I had a revelation: I do like the Oniwabanshuu and their subculture a lot. A lot of RK fans focus more on the Shinsengumi, because they're historically famous and Saitou was in it, and probably there are some followers of the Sekihoutai, since Sano and Katsu and captain Sagara are hot. But the Oniwabanshuu calls more my attention, and particularly the Aoshigumi (the Aoiya Oniwaban are really cute, but the other ones are just heart-breaking...)

Particularly, when I first watched the anime, I thought they were awesome. The only turn-off, ironically, was that Aoshi's emo "drags a lot" -I think in my fanbrat days I used to consider the characters more like bishie potential than anything, oh well. But now that I'm seeing them as an adult, their closeness and their tragedy have this new light. If RuroKen was a Jump series right now, I'm sure I would've clinged on the Oniwabanshuu.

And today I reread the parts with Oniwaban canon on it, and it's just that they all love each other SO much. Might as well cut this )

I think I'm going to bed early.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kenshin / Hitokiri scars)
My back is aching again DDDDDDDDDDD: I have to study, dammit.

But anyway.

a) LOL Wiki.

b) Rurouni Kenshin outtakes ETA: this one is better. Or the voice actors from the English dub goofing around. Hilarious! Watch the whole thing, it's not only mispronouncings of Amakakeru Ryuu no Hirameki.

c) I miss Avatar D:

I'm really, really random these days, am I? I can't even find memes I want to do.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kenshin / Persevere)
However!

Kenshin plushie. AIYEEEEEESQUEEEEEE!

This girl is selling packs of rare CLAMP goodies, and she ships internationally in case you want something. Meanwhile, I'm surprised there's someone else in this country who owned Soel to Larg.

And now a meme I saw on the flistflist. I have to choose 6 fandoms and answer to the questions:

1. Tsubasa/HOLiC (for current)
2. Cardcaptor Sakura (for activity)
3. Fullmetal Alchemist (for the win)
4. Avatar (for something that's not anime)
5. Fruits Basket (for it's ending)
6. Rurouni Kenshin (for nostalgia AIYEEE PLUSHIE)

Who is your favorite character from #2?
Eriol. Yeah.

Who is your least favorite character from #4?
Mmmmmmm. Right now Azula.

What would a crossover between #1 and #5 include?
ROFL. Mmmmm, probably Tohru any juunishi stepping in Yuuko's shop and wanting the curse to be broken. I can't decide on which one would be funnier, though. A tiny voice tells me it should be Hatsuharu if it's just to annoy Watanuki, but it'd make more sense for Rin to get to the shop. Kyou yelling around would be -really- amusing. And even if I can't see how the fuck to work it, Yuuko interacting with the Mabudashi trio would be so damn awesome.
And now that we're at it, Ayame should be BFF with pre-Tokyo!Fye. Cue Kurogane headdesking.

Who is your favorite ship from #6?
Er, I don't have ONE favorite one. My first one was Kenshin/Kaoru, though.

If you were to set one person from #3 and one person from #6 on a blind date, who would they be?
Oh boy, oh boy. Misao and Ed XDDDD She'd be disappointed because her date is shorter and uglier than Aoshi-sama, and Ed would go apeshit on her. And then he'd get pwned by her 1337 ninja skillz.
Havoc could try to date Megumi. She seems like his type.

If you could meet one person from #4 and spend the day with them, who would it be, and what would you do?
Sokka, actually. Because he's smart and funny, so hanging around with him would be cool. We could, um, go grab the Avatar-world equivalent of a burger, perhaps, while we talk.

If you could change one thing about #2's plotline, what would you change?
MORE CLOW BACKSTORY. The second movie wouldn't exist, and the anime TV ending would be more closed. And Eriol wouldn't praise Tomoyo that much, because that confused the fuck out of fanbrats.

Explain a relationship between two people (not necessarily romantic) from show #5, and why you like the relationship between them.
Just one?! That's so evil.
- Tohru, Uo and Hana's friendship is so cute.
- I'm currently hooked on the school council dynamics; they're just so awesome once you grow fond of the kookiness of the members. I think it's because of Kakeru, personally.
- For a ship, Ayame/Mine. That's a good combination of crack, drama, and romance, and I like how the relationship doesn't actually change that much as the story goes on.
- All sibling relationships. Period.

If the lead title characters (first name in the credits) from #1 and #3 were both drowning, and you could only save one, who would it be?
That's...
Sakura and Syaoran (I'm not sure who's the main character anymore) can drown, really. So! The issue would be between saving Watanuki and Edward. See, I love Kimihiro a bit more than Ed, but the thing is the elder Elric has two metal limbs, and the younger is ALL metal. It's harder for Ed to save himself, while Watanuki probably can swim or get saved by some creature, or by Doumeki for the 2136537th time. So I'd try to help Ed instead. Except I'd get drown too, but--

If you were able to add a new character, any kind of character you wanted, to the storyline for #6, what would the character be like and what would their role be?
Errrrrrrrr. Adding more characters is never a good idea. Have you seen the goddamned fillers?!

What happens in your favourite episode of show #2?
Episode? As in the anime? Nng.
In 46 we have Yue kicking butts and Clow showing up. Cons: lame what-if scenes with Sakura twirling and Tomoyo singing at the background. WTF was that?!
In 68 we have contemplative!Eriol and flashback!Clow, which is awesome.
In 69 we have Eriol kicking butts, and it's almost as cool as in the manga. Cons: Fujitaka fell asleep, and Eriol disappeared instead of giving explanations, and Madhouse rushed Syaoran's confession.

If you could kill off one of the characters of #1, who would it be and how would you do it?
Oh man. There are TRC characters I want to smack the shit out of them, and there are characters I keep asking "why the fuck are you even heeeeeeeeere?", but the ones I've actually wished to die are so important to the plot they might never, ever, ever be killed off. However, the ones I love will be dead meat sooner or later because this is CLAMP. Woe.

If you got the chance to visit the set for either show #3 or show #5, which would you choose?
By "set" I'll take "world", right?
Furuba is such a normal place, you know. So FMA, then. But a place that isn't too dangerous because I'm so weak. Problem is, everywhere is dangerous *facepalm*

ETA: If any of you own a Wii by now, I officially envy you.

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Edward and Alphonse / so zen)
It wasn't only a lousy day, but also Livejournal was dead most of the time. And it's still acting like an idiot. But hey, I could read some manga volumes that were hanging on my HDD.

But really, there are only three shounen series with the ability of making me both laugh and cry:

a) Rurouni Kenshin.

b) Fullmetal Alchemist.

c) One Piece.

Who needs Bleach? These are real masterpieces in their genres when it comes to plots and characterization.
