taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Raine / the texture of these tiles!)
Yay, welcome to all the new people from the Tales Of and Ace Attorney memes! It's nice to meet you guys. I'm horribly shy when it comes to comment, so I'll do my best. Same with all the LJ-friends that have been here for some time. Sorry I've been sucking.

Quickly, some points I've been meaning to mention.

1. I finished Hotel Dusk. The plot was all right, perhaps a bit exposition dump by the end, but what I liked the most was doing silly stuff with the stylus. Apparently there are more than one ending, so I suppose I'll slowly replay it some more.

2. I bought Persona 4. Like, legally. I still have no idea why, since it drives me to stress just by thinking about it -because I utterly suck at turn-based AND sims, plus I cannot deal well with free will games. Maybe the fact a) it was brought in English and therefore Spaniard gamers were whining about it, b) I do like the plot, c) bonus soundtrack CD, d) REALLY cheap for a month-old game. Furthermore, when I paid it, the clerk told me I could have a discount of 6€ from my accumulated points on the member card. Fuck yeah, a brand new game with a bonus for 24 bucks!

I might still play the undub pirate version from time to time, however. I mean, Paku Romi as Naoto = win. And Teddie/Kuma sounds sillier.

3. Oh, and FINALLY, I got the final volume of the Mushishi manga ♥ Haven't read it yet, but I'm happy to finish a collection for a series I love so much. It totally is the highlight of my week.

ETA: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH SAVE FILES FOR NSTC ARE DIFFERENT. HAVE TO START ALL OVER FROM THE BEGINNING. AAAAAAAAAAAAA.

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Sokka / beautiful day)
What a pretty, sunny, warm day! ^_^ *is happy*

I even walked around the city after class. To be precise, I went to the FNAC to see if they finally had the manga I was looking for on January. They had Mushishi #9, but not XXXHOLiC #13. So I got that one plus the third Percy Jackson book. I've been in the mood for mythology recently, so it's fitting. I got a discount since it's Father's Day this week in Spain. Then I went to the Gamespot in the same street; didn't buy anything there (not that I could! I'm broke!) but I saw some interesting things on second hand. Then I remembered I can now download PS2 games instead, so I just made a mental note and moved on. Afterwards, I walked to the bus station, which I NEVER do. Yet even though I was carrying my jackets and it was uncomfortable, I was still in a good mood and wanting to do exercise.

So that's it. Now I'm going to have pizza for lunch, yay.

BTW, give me more characters for the headcanon meme.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Klavier / Nein; ich spreche Dorkisch)
Okay, so in the end the chapter title issue was easily solved thanks to the Mushishi article at Japanese wikipedia and the mangaka being nice enough to put the titles in both kanji AND hiragana. Sadly, the last volume is only listed in kanji so far at the Wiki and there are no raws yet that I know of.

But the whole point of this is to ask for a bit of help. I romanized the titles for the non-anime stories, but I could do with a beta reading, just in case I messed up or I have bad use of spaces. I'm also adding the Spanish titles for my own reference, and an English translation of them. People who read/speak Japanese fluently: is any of the translations too far off from the original? I'm a bit nervous because it's a translation of a translation and stuff.

Behind the cut, Japanese text of doom )

Thank you for the help ♥
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
Because it was two days after Día de Reyes, meaning everything was sold out. I saw some 8GB models, but I wanted the 16MB one. And either in blue or purple. I reckon I'll wait one week or something till they're back in stock.

[Poll #1328101]

I think blue looks the coolest of the lot in person, to be honest, but I really wanted the purple one for my own geeky reasons.

Anyway, since I wanted to get me something nice for passing that exam, I got:
- FMA #18
- Mushishi #8
- Inkheart by Cornelia Funke

Speaking of which, I'm starting to gather my info for the Mushishi fansite. My first problem, however, comes with the stories' titles. For instance, in the Spanish translations of both anime and manga, the titles are translated with different words as they were translated by different companies. And of course, they're in Spanish, and translating a translation is ridiculous. So I go online to hunt for the English titles, only to find that there's the same issue with Wikipedia and ANN. I might probably also have different names from the official releases (FUNimation and Del Rey), unless one of those is actually FUNi's.

So as weeaboo as it is, I'll use the Japanese titles with a translation next to it. I'll probably just either pick the nicest one from the two options or use the official FUNi one. The second problem is with the manga-only stories (which are the last five volumes), as I don't have the Japanese chapter titles at hand, plus waiting for Del Rey releases to get an official English title would be ENDLESS. The first part can be solved by downloading raws. Besides, I could recruit someone's collaboration to romanize (and perhaps translate) the titles.

Now I must check what can I do about the mushi's names. I bet that'll be the largest problem.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
Will be doing the memes during the day or something.

So I said I wouldn't be doing a long list of resolutions because I never do them they bring me down. Instead of that, I'm compiling a list of things I must do or I wish to do during the year. Something particular, certain goals, not abstract stuff like "lose weight" and "get out more".

Let's see if I do better by thinking in terms of goals )

The Mushishi fansite is for real. I'm almost convinced I can pull it off as soon as I can get OS2 out of my system. The Spanish manga will be done this year (two volumes left, #9 is out on February), I have my DVDs, so all the canon -but the Otomo movie- will be within my reach in a matter of months. And I plan to shamelessly reuse some CSS from previous layouts I've done before. I'm sure I can do this!
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Eriol / grinning)
Went to the dentist to get that wisdom tooth removed. But apparently someone up there loves me, because that butcher mad-scientist imbecile was on vacation and the substitute dentist was such a nice guy. And sort of cute, kinda. SO, I'm done with dental issues for some time now.

There are raws of Ouran 64 but no translation yet. Aww. Looks like someone is noticing~ About time, glimmerous fop.

By the way, the Mushishi manga was supposed to end a few days ago, but I can't find spoilers or info about it on the Internet. Huh.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
I actually got myself the Mushishi Collector's Edition (Spanish) pack. It's. Just. That's the prettiest thing I've ever bought. Like I mentioned, it's a wooden box, yes. Then there's the booklet, 56 pages, with character designs, character profiles (even for minor characters), and even screencaps of the artistic part -like backgrounds and stuff. For each episode there's a tiny doodle. The amazing thing is that the booklet cover, plus the postcard (with a cute Ginko-covered-with-snow doodle on one side with Nagahama's autograph and The Sore Feet Song lyrics on the other), are made with this rough, textured cardboard paper (it's probably made with recycled pulp?). I wish I could scan the whole booklet but I'm afraid to open it too wide. The postcard I will, though.

It's all so gorgeous I get a knot in my throat when I stare at it. I fear I won't be able to buy a DVD pack ever again because the top standards are so high now. (just kidding)

If I get myself a camera, I'll take photos.

Other stuff I got:
- FMA #12 (I'm behind, but couldn't find #13)
- RG Veda #1
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
Back home now.

1. Remember the thing about the cat being too fat? Apparently, it's true... he's overweighted for a Siamese-type (although it seems Jazz is a Tonkinese, not a pure Siamese). Either way, he got sick, and the vet just diagnosed him diabetes. Yup, the cat is diabetic. And now dealing with a special diet! No more turkey ham, kiddo.

2. I was planning to buy the new Rurouni Kenshin special edition, since I never got to buy the regular manga when it was released here. Except the price is 12€ each volume, and they're 22. I PASS! It hurts me because I was excited about it, but the publisher is nuts. With the cost of two volumes, I can get three of other series. Or even an artbook.

3. On the other hand, the Mushishi deluxe DVD pack for Spain is just so, so shiny. It even includes a really thick booklet with content/illustrations, and an exclusive postcard signed by the director. But the most amazing part?

Presentación: Caja de Madera. (Boxset layout: WOODEN BOX)

WOODEN?! O_O That's... it does sound awesome considering the series itself. On the other hand, it makes it even more expensive, I'm sure. I... really want to buy it, wooden box or not, but it's 70€. I've never bought an anime boxset before, but this one is so fucking amazing and one of a kind I'm even considering it even though I can't afford it.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ginko / Run the slow dawn awake)
1. How the fuck did that even happen?

I had left my folder -with all my college stuff- inside the bus tonight. Luckily we intersected the bus on its way back to Coruña, and someone honest had given it to the driver.

Pheeeeeeeeeeew.

2. MY POKEYMANS... sort of

I joined [livejournal.com profile] anime_lj_tcg this weekend for some reason, heh. Just what I needed, more silly Livejournal hobbies. Because it's a silly thing to play, but I'm amused. My card post is here. It's kinda plain compared to hardcore players', but I think it's fine this way for such a thing.

I'm amused I seem to be getting cards and trades for anything BUT the two main decks I chose at first, which are Watanuki and Ginko don't get me started on the ridicuous name they gave Watanuki's deck, because the reason to name him is wrong and it makes NO SENSE even if he's a bit sensitive towards fortune-telling *breathes*. I find Ed's anime art butt-ugly now, but whatever. I WANT MORE MUSHISHI CARDSSSSS.

If you sign in, tell them I refered you. I get free cards.

3. Traveler anime? In my DVD player?

More likely than you thing! Speaking of which, Mushishi as licensed in Spain o_o Ah, and Death Note too, and Saint Seiya Hades (AHAHAHAHAHAHA) and Devil May Cry and more stuff I can't remember now. But you know, whatever. Mushishi! <3 Now I only need Kino no Tabi and Mononoke, and I'm set.

4. Speaking of which, moar HOLiC hiatus...

It's not only the fact it's prolongued, no. I wish it was. Today I find this cute little news:

ASAHDGHASGHJG.

So. Spanish publisher decides from now on to slow down the HOLiC volumes either MORE so the TRC readers won't be spoiled in HOLiC.

It's... it's like CLAMP's magazine strategy made to local releases.

..................... ;^;

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! DDDDDDDDD:

*insert epic echo and dramatic background here*

5. More than roboclaw, looks like a dragonclaw. Ahahahahapun.

I should make some sort of comment on Tsubasa, but I'm le tired. cynical spoilers behind, though )
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ame Warashi)
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me."
2. I will respond by asking you five questions. I get to pick the questions.
3. You will post the answers to the questions (and the questions themselves) on your blog or journal.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5.When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. And thus the endless cycle of the meme goes on and on and on and on...

I can't ask you stuff right now, sorry. After finals I'll get to it.

[livejournal.com profile] nyaabo's questions:

1. Favorite CCS card!?
...One? I like the elementals, although especially The Watery and The Firey because they're like pissed off fairies. I like The Light and The Dark, but they have so many fans it turns me off. For the anime-only, I loved The Create.

2. How'd you come up with your username?
I actually didn't :P Ame warashi is a character from XXXHOLiC, the rain spirit (see icon). I wanted to rename a while ago, so I thought of cool fandom names, and I remembered her. She's my kind of character. Besides, my nickname is written with the kanji of rain and means drizzle. It was adequate.

3. Favorite Mushishi story?
That's a mean question D: I love several. Like the traveling swamp, the guy who chased rainbows, the bamboo family, the one with the boy who slept through winters, the painter who moved to the city, the blind girl, Tanyuu's story... but I like most of them.

4. If you were to be turned into a stuffed animal, what kind would you want to be?
The first gut reaction is being my penguin plushie. He's all velveteen and soft :3

5. Would you rather have a mohawk, pompadour, or afro?
O_o Honestly, none. They all need awful amounts of hair gel, and I loathe using that shit. I'm too low maintenance when it comes to hair. I procrastinate over combing. Besides, they'd look awful on me.

* * *

Now [livejournal.com profile] haruhara's:

1. Favorite CLAMP series?
XXXHOLiC, actually XD I've been here in the fandom right since the series started in Japan. I've been here before the crossovers. I've been here before there was buttsecks subfandom. I'm like the fandom's cockroach. But regardless of the fandom, I love the series' premise and the paranormality of it all.
I'm pretty attached to CCS because it was my first CLAMP fandom, and I'm still writing for it. But since it's in HOLiCverse, sometimes I can get away with it and say they're the same canon :D ILU crossover precanon metastories~

2. What kind of music do you like?
I guess you could say I'm into rock, because that's what I listen to the most. I don't like a particular subgenre of it: a little bit of everything, including oldies and new stuff. I like some pop, but not the moronic mainstream kind. Still, I probably like loose songs in other genres, unless I really loathe it.
I listen more to music in English. Most music in Spanish, my native language, is boring pop and/or Latin-styled (I hate salsa and reggaeton), do it's not my kind of thing.

3. Describe yourself with images. Not feelings. ("I'm like a feather in the wind" instead of "I'm a pretty energetic person")
...
...
I'm the old, smelly Reader's Digest magazine you found at a waiting room, and you stole it when nobody else was looking, because you wanted to keep reading that article about the man who survived an attack of club-wielding baby seals at the Arctic, and try the lemon cake recipe. LET'S GET DANGEROUS! XD
.......................... ¬¬U
(sorry for the bad metaphor, and for the childhood impulse to quote Darkwing Duck)
How about "I'm like a flipping coin, as uncertain about the statistic outcome as Schrodinger's cat"?

4. Are you fond of sweets?
Sometimes. One day I'm in the mood for chocolates or cookies, the next I want chips or Doritos or anything salty. I don't like cake that much, though.

5. What's something that'll make you smile like a loon?
Buying a new manga of a series I adore, or watching/reading/hearing something funny, or a package of something I imported or bought online arriving, or raw scans of mangas (especially FMA) getting out. Some cute animals. Dunno, lots of weird stuff. I think this shows I have no life.

* * *

ETA: In one of those TDT channels, Clan TVE, they're broadcasting dubbed Doctor Who! O_O And it's the first episode of the first season! Nine!!
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Fujitaka / Read more)
I'm, right now, not rolling in a zone of physical pain. That means I'm feeling pretty good until I jinx it.

And thus, with such a nice, sunny Friday, I decided to take a walk downtown after class. I normally don't go outside, so I needed the fresh air. And it was a cute afternoon all and all.

Except for the part in which I stumble to these kiosks, and I discover I decided to walk around just in the middle of the book fair. I totally didn't know about it. To make it worse, the first stand was of a geek library (you know, with SF-fiction novels, comics, graphic novels, manga, anime DVDs... the whole fucking lot).

And how much money did I carry around? Why, 9€! Because I burned my month money in the preciousssssss Okami. I would've headwalled if I could.

Oh, how cute, the stand had a copy of Good Omens in Spanish. I spent so many time looking for you, bitch, and you show up when I don't need you! Screw you and the Alanis irony, I have one in English now, and it was cheaper than you and without literal translations of jokes anyway.

In the end, I survived to the fair without buying anything. It hurt a lot.

Therefore, I stopped by my comic library, which wasn't far away, and I bought one manga (which is what I could afford). I grabbed Mushishi #1

Then I walked a bit more and went back home. It was cool.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yuuko / ♥)
First, Japanese fanart rec: Kazami Aki's. She does original art and CLAMP. It's gorgeous. The CLAMP stuff is mostly TRC, HOLiC, and X, but there's a few RGV and Clover. Still, I like this because she did Kuro-parents and Kakyou/Hokuto she also draws females and not only teh buttsecks it's the kind of IC-esque fanart style I dig, without the artist throwing her kinks at you all the time all the kinks in this are CLAMP's latest gothic lolita bondage stuff, really or the usual rape!seme/blush!uke crap.

The original sections are also very pretty to look at. And there are more images at the diary section.

Second, I fell hard for Mushishi. I finally got to finish it, and it's just one of the most amazing things I've ever watched. And I'm so glad the manga will be released here, nyah even if it's fucking Norma again.

Oh, Ginko ♥ I so have a crush on him. But don't we all?

Also, I just noticed that if I try to describe Ginko's looks, he seriously sounds like a CLAMP rejectee O_o Like, white hair, one (one!) green eye, and he smokes, and sees/attracts stuff most people can't. I wouldn't be surprised if the mangaka was a CLAMP fangirl at one point. Except Mushishi kinda is what something like HOLiC or Tokyo Babylon would be without relying on gay and fate for plot, which makes it more awesome than the two mentioned. *dodges tomatoes* But I mean it, Mushishi's storytelling is just exquisite, as Kino no Tabi's.

ETA: Third, MY ADOLESCENCE! Will be raped by high school AU chibiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis x______x But SD!Shinji is so cute... NO, IT'S EVIL, DO NOT WANT.
