taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yamazaki's emperor penguin lie)
I could post about how Heroes this week wasn't that entertaining except for a couple of things (LOL the Haitian and Kensei), or how in The IT Crowd Douglas sucks a lot -in life, in funny, in nudity, ewwww, in everything- and I want his father back next season. I could post on how cool Mononoke 9 was, even if the plot is confusing as hell and leaves more questions that answers, but that happens all the time and that's the charm of the series: it kills ur brain ded.

However, I am le tired. Damn, I should try to be funnier! I'm giving a lame first impression! I'll try to make something funny or cool or amusing in the next 24 hours, but so far I'll be doing more interest meme.

From [livejournal.com profile] solesakuma:

Emperor penguins: Penguins. Yes, penguins! Did you know those comic, flightless, web-footed little bastards can grow up to 5 meters tall? Okay no, not really, that's me quoting Monty Python and Takashi Yamazaki. The Aptenodytes forsteri are not only cute, but also badass. Have you seen any documentary on them? It's amazing what they do every year just to breed and stand the winter, man. And they're cute, yeah.

Dukylon: Once upon a time, CLAMP also drew short manga on crack to amuse themselves. That's how stuff like, uh, every CLAMP Campus manga was born, really. And that includes Gakuen Tokkei Duklyon, which is basically a parody to sentai series, very goofy, and very gay (even if, ironically, there's also canon het OMGWTF!) Only two volumes, but I couldn't stop laughing. I'm a sucker for parodies, myself, and there needs to be more Ken/Take and Erii/Kotobuki fanstuff out there.

Ducks: It comes from childhood. We used to go to the park a lot to feed the ducks until they took them away during a dengue epidemics. So they're one of my favorite animals. But looking back, I always preferred Donald to Mickey, Daffy to Bugs. And I really liked Ducktales and Darkwing Duck. I never had a rubber ducky because we had no bathtub, and it made me sad. My favorite duck kind is the mallard, by the way.

Ouran Host Club: Or whatever you want to call it. I like the manga better, and I suspect I'm only there because I grew attached to Tamaki because, otherwise, these days I'm not caring that much. It's still a nice series, though.

Slayers: Oh man, a classic! Based in novels I still haven't read, the anime marked my teenage years with Rurouni Kenshin. Because before CLAMP bribed me with shiny magic or Rowling hooked me to her wizards, there was mothafucka Lina Inverse kicking ass. Trufax, dears, my first real magical fandom. That series has everything: fantasy, action, adventure, magic of all kinds, comedy, drama, good vs evil (...sorta), the whole deal! And in perfect balance, I'd say. You don't know what you missed. The next anime season is lame, so go check this one out instead!

Wish: One of those CLAMP mangas that'll make you diabetic from the sap. While I didn't care that much about poor Kohaku, and I think the first Shuichirou makes Shizuka Doumeki look extroverted (God, that man had the facial expressions of a LOG), the secondary characters are amusing and lovely. Also, see how in this case Kokuyou didn't lose his eye: he knows exactly where he left it! XD Cleanest display of the eye cliché, kids.

Web design: For me it's not only splatter something on Photoshop, because it's more than the graphics. I enjoy coding the HTML, the skeleton of the whole webpages, and see the results on the screen. One of my favorite (or least favorite, if it's a bad coding day) is doing the CSS (do not confuse with CCS: in the latter there is no Clow card called The A:hover), which would form the view. Just by changing one line you get a different look. Man, what a geek I am.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Hiro / Nerds may be badass)
Holy crap, my university now has a Master degree on Digital Creation and Communications. That including graphics and animation and web design, between other stuff. You know what? When I graduate from this shit, I might as well try to get in. I'm not sure I might be able to take the actual Master course as I'm doing a tech career, but there's also this 'Expert In' degree that has lower requirements. The only difference being the number of total credits/courses, and the Master people must also do practice job on companies while the Expert don't (aww, I sort of want to do that).

Anyway. I spent 11 hours yesterday, finding a copy of Heroes 2x01 I could download, not on MU, not over 400MB, not to be pasted back with spyware-filled software, not stopping in the middle. Eleven fucking hours, people. If this happens next week, I'll take their hands and twist their fingers until it hurts.

SPOILERS~! )

And this made me LOL: M. Night's self-cameo in the live-action Avatar movie? Perhaps XDDDD
taotrooper: A baby pegasus eating grapes (Fantasia / I brake for grape)
1. Laziness: It feels it's been ages since I've done something productive. A fanfic, an icon, a website update, a cool journal post. I should probably revamp Mercury Retrograde, add real content, and upload my fanfics. Also, start with my Ushiwaka shrine, retake my Eriol shrine, update Kimihiro.net, revamp some things, add content to some fanlistings, so on. I wish I could pick up my CCS muse. I should translate that Okami fanfic to English. I really want to make icons. So many things, so (relatively) many time, so little willing to do anything.

2. Decisions, decisions: Speaking I changed my mind: now I want to rename my fanlisting collective as "Strawberry Samba" (or "Samba de fresa", I'm still not sure). And I'll eventually fuse my two collectives. The name I thought before, "Celestial Brush", I'll keep it for the possibility of making a general Okami mini-shrine in a far future. I think I'm batshit crazy.

3. Eyecandy: This post is kinda old, but I found a massive picspam for the male (adult) actors of Heroes. And not only the more 'mainstream' guys (like Milo, Adrian, Zachary, Sendhil), mind you, but almost EVERY man who acted there. Guaranteed to fry your ovaries/testicles. Warning: Not dialup friendly at all. I'm on broadband and my browser froze, but maybe it was the hotness.

4. Guilty pleasure: OMG, recently I was so stupidly happy because Nick Spain is broadcasting Nintama Rantarou. Around here it's kind of trendy these last years to import kiddie anime. They tried with Doraemon, and Crayon Shin-chan became a mass phenomenon some time ago.

But see, my favorite kodomo show is this one; I remember watching some episodes in Venezuela, before I even heard about Naruto (and mind you, the manga was older so maybe Kishimoto borrowed the idea). And even if it lacks plot, and it's childish and predictable and nothing new, it's just so silly and cute and cracky. And no, Rantarou isn't a redheaded Harry Potter or Nobita, as a matter of fact.

I tried to look for episodes online, but I failed. Oh well.

5. Meme:

How many times has someone on your friends list posted about something and you were really confused, but you didn't want to ask because you knew you SHOULD know? How many times have you felt 'guilty' asking an LJ friend a question that should be 'obvious'? Well, here's your chance. If you've missed a few things, missed an entry and are confused, ask me anything. Even something EXTREMELY basic, like where I live! I'm not allowed to get even slightly irritated at any of the questions - we've all missed things before. Even if there are things you don't think you've missed, but you're just curious about, go ahead and ask. I'll answer any questions, if you're curious about more than one thing or are new to my friends list.

Lazy day

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Link / Twilight Princess version)
You know, I have an account in 1up.com. I like that portal more than Gamespot or IGN, the content is more meta, and the users seem to have tastes more similar to mine (i.e, I normally agree with them more than in other gaming communities).

I'm a lurker. I only use it to keep a wishlist (I can't remember everything I've owned in my childhood, or what my brothers own right now). I don't blog there, I'm not a member of groups, I don't check the forums, nothing. So I find strange to sign in today to update my lists, and find random people asking me to add them. They should've got to me by random search features.

Dude, I thought it was a gaming portal, not MySpace.

Anyway. Here are some amusingly morbid links:

1. Heroes: If Isaac Mendez had been Andy Warhol (no spoilers)

2. Zelda: Link tries to communicate with a shop keeper
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yuuko / lol internet)
I stumbled into this Youtube user who's done crack Heroes videos that made me LOL hard. Mostly focused on Sylar and Mohinder (you can even find shippy stuff in their account). Spoilers for people following the Latin American broadcast; not sure about the Spanish one, though. No spoilers for the season finale.

Animaniacs. Claire is cute and Nathan yaks. Peter packs away the snacks...

Mohinder Pinky and Sylar the Brain. Spin-off of the previous one.

Pokémon! Because Sylar gotta catch 'em all heroes' brainssss.

The F.U.N. song. Weirdly enough, I found this the funniest one XD With the Animaniacs one as a close second.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kyon / oh happy face)
Woot for my fandoms! Of course, I'm really mad at the Bleach fanits voting like sheep at that and outnumbering good stuff like Hagaren and HOLiC (ahahahaha, TRC isn't even on the list) and H&C. Hell, I think FMA > Furuba, but I let that slide because it's its last year and all, and Arakawa scored first at one-shots for that ninja girl story, and it's still better than fucking Bleach.

In anime, I think SuzuHaru should've done better than Code Gayass, especially; WTF at DN and BLEACH ANIMES beating Haruhi!. Oh well, at least Saiunkoku Monogatari (I'm behind in that one, actually) did well.

I was planning to rant about this week's Heroes, but I'm, mentally, too tired today. I'll just say the cliffhanger was PURE EVIL, all poor Petrellis are *screwed* right now, and I'm never taking ANYONE's parent for granted again. EVER. Oh, and I'm liking Hiro/Ando more.

;_____;

Spoilers for Heroes 1x17 )
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Tamaki is our king)
1. I think it's official: I AM a Mokona Modoki elitist whore. Or something in those lines. I mean, in the shop I buy my comics, I saw -about time they had non-Bleach-or-Naruto merch!- they had Mokona plushies from the Tsubasa anime. Not the one-foot tall ones they had in that other store, but some small, fuzzy ones that fit in your palm (I'd say what, 15cm?).

And you know why I didn't buy at least one of them besides of the price? Because, and I quote my brain, they don't have the earring. Maybe I should nitpick more, I'll save some bucks!

2. I didn't notice they had the latest Ouran raw at FRTP! Oh God, the splash cover is love XDD Nekozawa is cooking curry in it, WTF. And Suoh-papa is so silly, yay. I wish I could talk more about the chapter itself, but I can't understand what's going on the second half, besides the fact Kyouya is acting crazy in it.

3. YAY I'M DONE WITH PRACTICE WORK. Now exams... ;___;

4. After that post about the caps comms, what do I get? A review for a fic at the Pit, written in CAPSLOCK. Oh irony, you were so late.

5. Woot, the first season of Flying Circus downloaded! I'm amazed it's so hard to find Monty Python DVDs in Spain, or at least in my fucking city. I'd actually buy Flying Circus. But I'm too lazy to import it.

6. I missed Heroes so much! *hugs show*
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Fujitaka / Read more)
And I was in such a good mood until ten minutes ago ;______;

Good luck to people doing NaNo in my flist. I don't feel like reading anything at the moment, so you'll have to excuse me if it takes me days to check your novels.

I was supposed to squee over the HOLiC goodness and fangirl some scenes from Heroes in this post, but I just got the psychological version of a bucket of cold water over my head. So that'll have to wait, or maybe I should summarize it as "Watanuki is uber love, the warashis are love, the chick (Pi? Pa? Po?) is love, Hiro is love, Ando is love." Something like that, and I'll settle with commenting at coherent posts made by other people.

Oh, and I read two short stories from Gaiman adapted to comic books at the library. To be specific, Murder Mysteries and Creatures of the Night. They were creepy, which is good. And I borrowed the novel Neverwhere, by him as well.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Soel / Leave this world with style)
Bueno.

/fumes in Spanish

Now, about TV. It's so nice I have cable in my bedroom! Most of the time it sucks, but it makes me happy. And watching shows I keep hearing about on the Internet is a plus.

I'm definitely watching Supernatural every week. I'm on episode... 3 or 4 of season 1. The Winchesters' motivations are still on the "meh" side, but I really like the stories and cases they deal with. It's a bit like a lot of the horror/supernatural (no pun intended!) animanga I follow, but with live-action actors and cheesy special effects. Oh, and Dean.

I watched the first episode of Veronica Mars last week. I, um, still don't see what's so good about it. Maybe the show gets better later? So far it left me indifferent.

I want to watch Prison Break and Medium, as so many people rec them to me, but I couldn't catch them from the beginning. Woe.

Speaking of series I'm watching not only from the beginning, but I'm also *gasp* up to date with USA, Heroes!

Spoilers up to 1x05 )

I need a Heroes icon, but I can't decide between the dozens of ones I've seen D:
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (WTF?)
[livejournal.com profile] chibiyuuto, I was almost done with the interview translation, and guess what? Thunderstorm. Lights went out. LJ draft didn't save.

T_________T

I'm pissed at the moment, so excuse me if I retranslate it to you another day. I want to kick puppies or raijuus or something.

I've been watching TV -normal TV!- so I'm going to post some thoughts.

Heroes 1x03. WTF. WTF. WTF again. This episode was one WTF after the other. Especially the ending. WTF. There's so much WTF I'm not even ranting because I don't know where to start! Oh, I'm still watching because I'm hooked, but WTF!

Supernatural 1x01. I watched the first episode last night, and while I'm sure there must be better shows on that style -that I never watched-, I thought it was fine. Could be considered spoiler, but it's the first episode so I'd say it's not, but just in case ) I'll keep watching a bit more to see what's about. The episode had parts that creeped me out, and at least I liked that.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kujaku / Dream within a dream)
Random fangirlisms I had pending:

  1. Steamboy. I actually liked the movie more than I thought I would. The plot *was* on the "whut" side, but at least it was eye candy.
  2. .
  3. Laputa. Made of win! Then again, it's Ghibli. Air pirates! Flying city! Robots! A 'speshul' princess who doesn't suck! See how Miyazaki can send the "technology for wars sucks" message better than Otomo, a lot of years before him.

  4. RG Veda omakes. Some of them can be found at [livejournal.com profile] rg_veda, but the posts are locked since they're scans from the Tokyopop volumes. I hadn't seen most of them, and they're utter CRACK! :D

  5. Pratchett. I think Interesting Times has become my favorite book from the Rincewind series. It has so many things I like! The butterfly effect (literally, with actual butterflies), alive computers, the power of names, a parody of old China and Japan. And of course, characters such as all the wizards, the Luggage, Twoflowers, Veterinari, Cohen the barbarian, and so on. Yuuko would've LOVED this book.

  6. Heroes: I watched both episodes between last night and today, and I'm obsessed now! Fuck Lost, this one has so much potential and at least it's more amusing without sacrificing the creepy factor. And this way, I finally can enjoy an American superpowers story without buying 23537 comic book issues, which is pretty good. I like a lot of characters, but I'm not going to deny my favorite is Hiro, supergeek extraordinaire, because he makes me laugh with his dorkiness. Anyway, I have to wait until Monday for 1x03? Not fair! *whines*
