taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Fullmetal Alchemist / Elric brothers)
Ah, I still haven't made a coherent post to say Fullmetal Alchemist good-bye. How about this, for now? I'm sharing some songs that I mentally link to the series. I can't really say it's a fanmix or anything, as I don't really feel like doing a cover or uploading the songs separately. It's something really informal, but the fact I can think of so many and that most of them are positive says a lot.

Music inside! Cut for text, not ending spoilers )

U2 - Pride (in the name of love)

I have discovered the joys of batch screencapping with KMPlayer. In one day, I capped the whole first season of Natsume Yuujinchou. Hopefully I'll have it all uploaded tomorrow!

Seriously XDDDD One day I'll make a post about how, thanks to Ace Attorney, the word "fop" has become part of my daily vocabulary and not only to describe fictional prosecutors. But it won't be today.

I just ripped a song on youtube, and since I recovered recently a lot of music from my former HDD (aka Spinel I) might as well share some happy and/or pretty songs around :D It's been ages since I last used the "sharing shit" tag! Consider this an end of summer mixtape thing. All anime songs are full sized, by the way.

1. Loving Guitar's Serenade: English + Japanese, ballad/orchestra (Gyakuten Saiban 4)
1.1. Related Bonus: Love Love Guilty (Klavier Gavin/Kyouya Garyuu's theme song)
2. Discovery Channel commercial - I Love the Whole World (boom de yada): English, random
3. Akaya Hirahara - Reset: Japanese, pop/ballad (Okami ED)
4. Megumi Hayashibara - Revolution: Japanese, technopop (Slayers Revolution ED)
5. Suga Shikao - 19 Sai: Japanese, pop (XXXHOLiC OP)
6. Paradise Lunch - Gun's & Roses: Instrumental, jazz (Baccano! OP)
7. Ally Kerr - The Sore Feet Song: English, ballad (Mushishi OP)
8. Ritsuko Okazaki - Morning Grace: Japanese, waltz/ballad (Princess Tutu OP)
9. Savage Garden - Truly Madly Deeply: English, pop/ballad
10. L'Arc~en~Ciel - Shine: Japanese, pop-rock (Seirei no Moribito OP)
11. Editors - Put your Head Towards the Air: English, ballad
12. Incubus - Aqueous Transmission: English, weird mellow thing with Asian instruments

ETA: one more
13. Janne da Arc - Shining Ray: Japanese, pop-rock (One Piece ED 8)

Enjoy the eclecticness :D And YES, Shine IS full sized. That's the one I ripped from a PV. Well, and the Discovery Channel tune.

Reposting this because I got no reply from you. Just a random person from the TGC, LOL.

THE POKEMON MEME!

Good thing I read spoilers about the FMA chapter and I could prepare myself, or I'd be dead yesterday. So I checked out some of the OST of Brawl and cheered up immediately. I wonder if I'm a bad fan...? It was a really good chapter, yeah, but.

But guys, really, this soundtrack is genious. All these classic videogame songs remixed. It makes my inner Nintendo fangirl so happy. Weirdly enough, I like the Kirby songs the most. When we first heard Gourmet Race in-game, my brother (who's more into rock than my other brother) and I were all "this one is actually pretty good o_ô". The guitars were bitching.

Except he says Frozen Hillside sounds like a song from Camela XD Yeah, that one is odd.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Tamaki is our king)
1. If "video killed the radio star", did Internet kill the MTV star? Why asking for music videos when you can just search on Youtube (and download it)?

2. I think Elite Beat Agents ruined Freddie Mercury's (or was it the whole Queen? can't recall) "I was born to love you" for me. Now every time I hear it, I'm all "ajndbfbsb retarded DaVinci/Gioconda shoujo AU badfic". It's that BAD. You don't want to know what they did to DaVinci -hell, I don't even want to call that thing DaVinci.

3. Funny enough, EBA did make Destiny's Child's "Survivor" better for me by association. Taking care of zombie mutant things by allergy to nuts? EPIC STUFF XD If such a FPS game was ever made based on that guy, I'd so play it. And I don't even like the genre!

4. But see, somehow the trainwreck of 2 reminded me that the next Ouran chapter should be out soon, and oh my it already was! ♥ Like always, at this forum. The Haruhi raburabu abuse continues, and I'm LOL'ing so, so, so, so hard at her fever dorkiness! Tanuki what? Shoujo manga what? Having his babies what?! XDDDDDDD She's so cute when WTF.

Tamaki was so incredible adorable ♥ No wonder she could understand how the fuck she fell for him. No, really, I'm liking the way the canon is going, it's so cute and I ship it hard.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Obligatory Disney icon)
Oh, good! Not only I was able to survive to my first LIMS week ever, but my crit was actually constructive *breathes*

Now join me next Friday, while I die from yet another image challenge that won't inspire me *weeps*

After going to the supermarket today, I went to the basement to check my old books out. I managed to find my Japanese mythology book, which is great, and read some pages of it. Particularly the ones about myths popping in my fandoms You know, I think this is the first source I see that says Benkei was pwned and became Yoshitsune's second hand when the latter was still called Ushiwakamaru. But nevermind that. I wonder if it's my geek/Ravenclaw leaking, or me being a pseudo-OCDer. Anyway...

I also found my English dictionary, and my Norse runes' handbook.

Oh, and I found two old Disney CDs! When I was little I collected Disney soundtracks. Sadly, we sold most of them later on, but I still had a couple left. I'm still mourning the Fantasia and the Aladdin ones, but what can I do :/

So, I ripped them and uploaded them for you >D I'm sure one or two of you will want them. Mind you, they're from original CDs from the 90s. If the boxes weren't so dirty and broken, and I hadn't lost TLK's booklet, I could've got some good cash with them today.

Beauty and the Beast OST (1991)

The Lion King OST (1994)

And yeah, it's all the songs. OSTs those days were lame when it came to instrumental songs.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Obligatory Star Wars icon)
Well yeah... sorry if you saw last night's capslock of O NO U DIDN. The shit is still NOT DONE, amazingly. I need to do my suitcase, fuck it all.

But anyway...

Feliz día del orgullo friki!

Happy "how do they rise" day!
*which still can't understand because she hasn't read that Discworld book*

And me, I'm a bit happier because I got this shiny, shiny fanlisting approval ZOMG *_* I must've had zero competition LOL So I have two wishlisters in upcoming. At least Waka already has a layout because I'm building a shrine anyway. I need to start on Ling as soon as possible.

So. Today it's Geek Pride day in Spain. To celebrate in some way, I'll upload random Star Wars mp3s.

The cantina band

Since I don't know when every holiday starts, this will be my token Happy Holidays post :D By the way, all those gifts and requests for icons and all from memes? I'm working on them. I'll post them before the year ends, hopefully.

[Poll #893768]

Oh, and sharing something pretty. Music from the Nutcracker ballet. CDs 1 and 2 (sorry, I had no time to upload in oter servers D: I hope Sendspace behaves, and if it doesn't ask me so I tell you a little trick to hack the download)

Today was the AIDS day thing, and I never get to do anything. Not even the ribbon. It's kinda sad.

So, I'm not sitting through MTV's pro-condom testimonials because there's nothing better on TV, and because AIDS -while I never had to experience people with it- was one of those traumas of my childhood (my mom had an informative booklet with a photo of a sick, pale 4-5 year-old kid on a bed, and let me tell you that's SCARY).

Instead, I'll plug some music AIDS took away from us.

I've always said that if I were a fruity gay man, I'd take Freddy Mercury as my diva, instead of Cher, Barbra, and all that cheesy cliché crap gays in sitcom listen to. Because dammit, he was an amazing singer and Queen was awesome, no matter how evil Pterry and Gaiman said on Good Omens.

I still haven't gotten around to download collect all their albums, but here you have one of those Greatest Hits compilations for you to download. Maybe you can put it in your car stereo and pretend you're Anthony Crowley driving the Bentley. Or you know, just listen to it.

Tracks:
- Bohemian rhapsody
- Another one bites the dust
- Killer queen
- Fat-bottomed girls
- Bicycle race
- You're my best friend
- Don't stop me now
- Save me
- Crazy little thing called love
- Somebody to love
- Now I'm here
- Good old-fashioned lover boy
- Play the game
- Flash
- Seven seas of Rhye
- We will rock you
- We are the champions
- I'm in love with my car
- Under pressure (live)
- Tie your mother down (live)

I have a confession to make, people.

When I was a teenager, I...

...

...I liked Shakira's music a lot.

*dodges tomatoes*

But of course, the idea of Shakira as a musician is weird now, that she became some sort of hybrid between Ricky Martin and Christina Aguilera. You have to understand something, and it's the fact she used to be a good artist before she sang in English. In the old times, when she was only famous in Latin America, she used to compose and play her own songs with the acustic guitar and sometimes harmonica solos. It was good pop music, splashed with some other genre influences (rock, ballad, reggae, Arabian, tropical, mariachi) in between. And her lyrics were amazing! Most of her songs were obviously about love, but they were original with nice combinations of words. The rest of them were actually meaningful, trying to send a message about humanity.

The point is, when I was in high school she rarely mentioned her hips, and only shaked her ass in one song. I swear to God.

It's so sad she sold out. And she looked soooo much prettier with black, straight hair.

To show my point, I'll plug some of her old videos. Most of you won't understand the lyrics, but I can guarantee you they're good. You can try to watch them anyway, not only for curiosity but also because the clips are conceptual and artistic in their own crazy way.

Pies descalzos (Bare feet) First video ever saw of her. The song is about human nature, from Eden to cavemen to modern society. The lyrics are so interesting. Check the rocker look she sported and the batshitness of the imagery, so fitting.

Dónde estás corazón (Where are you dear) Catchy song about wondering where her loved one is now and how she looked for him in every place she could think up. The lyrics were so much fun to memorize.

Un poco de amor (A little bit of love) Yay pseudo-reggae! :D

Se quiere, se mata (You love, you kill) The story of a very young couple who messed up. A song about abortion.

Ciega sordomuda (Blind, deaf, mute) About dumbness and stubborness of love. The video is just insane and makes no sense, but it's so much fun.

No creo (I don't believe) Another love song with somehow intellectual concepts. She doesn't believe in Marx, Sartre, whatever. Her only faith is her love. The video is pretty cool.

Inevitable I love this song. About silly confessions, and admitting she can't stop loving him. There's something so Lenny Kravitz about this video.

Ojos así (Eyes like those) Arabian song! Actually, Shakira is half Libanese (I think, or some other Middle-East country), so that explains this song. This is the only video pre-English of her in which you'll find her shaking her ass, and that's because she's belly dancing. Also, lol red hair.

So there you have it. Decadency of singers who were cool makes me a sad panda.

Blah

taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Kenshin / Persevere)
What a nice day, the whole city is covered in MIST. Pffffft. Also, today is such a depressing day. And I had to face my practice group and tell them I'm not taking the final, when I was hoping not to bump into them -fuck you, Murphy. I think I'll rent some light-hearted movie or something. Manga shopping will have to wait; I don't even know if I'm getting money for my birthday or not, or how much.

I'll have to buy the remaining CCS volumes in Spanish now that Glénat is raising their prices next month. I wanted to buy some Japanese volumes in order to scan Eriol images for my shrine in HQ and unflipped, but I'm not getting anyone who sells them to ship them over here. I WILL pay the expenses in advance, what's the big issue?

And I'm stuck in these SQL exercises, to make it worse.

By the way, can you recommend me any albums by British bands (rock or pop rock, preferably; no boy/girl bands or hip hop) you guys like? You can even drop old/classic stuff like the Beatles, or really popular guys like Franz Ferdinand. I have to decide on my RP British girl's musical tastes, now that'll hopefully have her more active in the game this summer.

Okay, that's my excuse. I just want to download Brit music because I'm in the mood, dammit.

Also, I'm revamping and rewriting my Eriol shrine. Now that I'm glancing at the info I have up, I want to hang myself for being such an idiot.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Yuuko / Magnolia scent)
Infinity artbook is tempting me *eye twitches*

I'm not liking the seasonal LJ look, unlike Halloween's. It's too colorful and clustered. And it looks bad in 800x600.

Last night, I was chatting with [livejournal.com profile] ruki_elric about the FMA fandom, and we started talking about pet shipping for some reason. We were surprised they haven't moved on to the animals yet. Like, Black Hayate/any animal or Xiao Mei/Al's kitties. I said Black Hayate would be the fandom's bicycle, whored by anyone with anyone. Some het shippers would be crossing fingers for Den and Black Hayate meeting each other in actual canon, age differences aside, while crazy yaoi fangirls would write Alexander (Nina's dog)/"Buraha" noncon sexxorz. Of course, we were kidding around because it's so scary.

But this morning, I see the manga calendar scans again (if you want to see them all, check here), and I remember that conversation again as I see Den and Hayate posing in images there. Ruki, Hayate/Den is so canon! XDD Check April! And December! But especially, see June!! XDDD

*sighs* Anyway...

Again, some mp3 sharing! This month, some old Alanis Morissette songs that remind me of XXXHOLiC. You should really check them out, even if it's for the lyrics.

Artist: Alanis Morissette
Song: You learn
Genre: Rock ballad, really cracky yet thoughtful
Notes: Okay, everything in this song can be applied to XXXHOLiC. No, actually, the song summarizes the whole series very well, especially the chorus. Dude. Just imagine Yuuko singing it (with Mokona, Maru and Moro occasionally meddling it. Mokona yelling "I certainly do!"). Of course, the generic you would be Watanuki.
I'd kill to see a music video with this song. If I knew how, I'd do it myself, with manga images because I can't wait for anime.

Artist: Alanis Morissette
Song: All I really want
Genre: Rock, more agressive than the others
Notes: A really random song, It's not as accurate as the other one, but some paragraphs are really HOLiC-centered. Most of them from Yuuko's side, but a couple of ones from Watanuki's. Some parts could be interpreted as D/W or C/Y.

And an extra one, for [livejournal.com profile] the_great_elk.

Artist: Alanis Morissette
Song: Head over feet
Genre: Rock ballad, romantic
Notes: Not HOLiC this time, but Touya/Yukito! It's about someone who slowly fell in love with her best friend. This one would be great for a TouYuki FST. I can just imagine them singing it as a duet. Except for the first paragraph; that would be Yue's.
The only thing that won't fit is "you treat me like I'm a princess". I have flashbacks of dragqueen!Cinderella!Touya XD
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Clow / First rate sorcerer)
Ah, I just got a software that can convert regular music tracks to digital files, so you know what it means. Yeah. Sharing music!

Maybe I'll make a tradition and share two to four songs a month. We'll see. I don't have a lot of music now.

I'll bring you today my first (and successful) sample:

Artist: Incubus
Song: Aqueous transmission
Genre: uh, in this case I'd say experimental
Notes: This is the song that named my journal ^_^ I love this song. It's so weird I don't know how to describe it. Even if Incubus is a rock band, this song lacks any rock instrument (we do hear DJ sounds and slight percussion, though). The melody is strongly Asian-influenced, so you'll find shamisen, flutes and orchestra string instruments performing it. But the weirdest sounds are birds chirping on the background and croaking frogs in the end of the song. The lyrics are pretty and interesting, probably about a river-water sailor who reflects about his feelings of loneliness while he sails, unless it's all a metaphor. Either way, it works for me.

Sorry about the size. The song is rather long (almost 8 minutes) so it turned out heavy. Maybe after hearing it, you'll see why I'm so satisfied with my LJ's newest layout.
