taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Peony the IX / a thorn in the throne)
Complaining works! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! My Tsuioku no Jade volumes arrived yesterday! ♥

Man, why is this an AU? Because yes, it is an AU. I can go and take metacanon as personal canon (i.e, Tales of Fandom) if they don't interfere with the original canon. This, however, completely rewrites the Nebilim sidequest. It's a pity because the flashbacks are really spiffy.

I won't comment on chapters 1-3 since they're already scanned and translated. And I can't read Japanese beyond katakana so I don't get the dialog :(

What's in the rest of volume 1? )

I'll make a summary of volume 2 later. It's not bad, but it is rather different.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Ling / Host club)
BECAUSE MAMORU MIYANO IS LING. I can't get over that.

Okay, right, I've been saving up words from that "comment and I'll give you words to ramble about" meme like a squirrel. So it's time to gush.

[livejournal.com profile] colonize gave me The Legend of Zelda, Peony/Jade, Good Omens, Raine Sage, and Howl/Sophie )

[livejournal.com profile] telrunya gave me web pages, Ling, Tales of the Abyss, CLAMP, caparashon )

[livejournal.com profile] sha_chan gave me turtles, baddass colonels, Ace Attorney, sparkly blonds, snarky pairings )

I still have two sets to do. Will go with that tonight or tomorrow.
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Tear / must poke)
While I was waiting for the epic asskicking that Mrs. Izumi Curtis (and many others) are bringing, I stumbled into the most ridiculous anime DVD cover that is relevant to my interests in history. It includes, of course, one Colonel Curtiss.

I cannot believe such a silly official image exists )
taotrooper: It's a polar bear dancing the hula; your argument is invalid (Teddie / puntastic!)
Tsuioku no Jade raws ♥ ♥ Oh my God, I was expecting to never see them after two months of poking the Internet, but there they are! And since I know better, I opened them already set in that there was no way it could be as good as it sounded, and perhaps it'd be just Jade and Luke talking about shit instead of flashbacks or whatever.

.......AND I WAS WRONG! It WAS so goooood! It had

a) Nephry, who doesn't do a lot but sure looks pretty
b) Flashbacks *_* And more to go
c) Nebilim being a total badass
d) Going to Grand Chokmah and, therefore, lots of Peony
e) Rappigs; even a look at rappig!Luke's personality
f) Splash cover with the OTP

THEREFORE, AWESOME. BEST SPINOFF EVER.

In other news, I'm getting the hang of Persona 4. During the weekend I beat two dungeons, which are the gay sauna and the strip club. I'm sort of proud of myself. Besides, I have Hermit in rank 9, so the healing thing won't be such a ripoff.

Heeeeee!

Sometimes, I deeply believe the real reason I read Kobato isn't because I need a break for angstbulance and twists!1! and cryptic crap from the other CLAMP fandoms. Sometimes, I'm convinced I read it because I love Ioryogi for some reason, and I want to see what -and who- he is. Also, all those acquaintances in animal shapes.

I was seriously dying of cute when I checked the new raw, and wanting to be able to make icons. It's been ages since anything CLAMP has made me want to icon. And yay, usyagi!

Also, I revamped my profile, just editing around the one I made for my inksome journal. And on one hand, I'm feeling like such a weeaboo for using a doujinshi image when I don't even know the circle who made it! On the other hand, it doesn't look that bad, and it's my newest OTP, and it warms me up.

Sigh, I've turned into such a weeaboo in the last few months...

1. I just got hooked to the American comic Fables. It's amazing how this can cater to my plot AND one-shot needs at the same freaking time. I love the whole mythos, the modern take on fairytales and stories -how it brings reality without dropping fantasy altogether-, and I especially enjoy the awesomeness of secondary/minor characters. I can't count the amount of times I went "fuck yeah [insert random character here]!" It's pretty good.

2. By the way, where do people download full scans of comic books, like one does with manga? I have no idea, and the way torrents handle them (like, uploading every weekly release, I think?) looks confusing. Because from a certain point, the Spaniard scans from translated volumes finished, and the scanlations are truly HORRID. So it's time to hit the original language, but I'm not into the comics fandom and don't know where to turn.

Incidentally, Western comics are so fucking expensive here, especially Vertigo series. The hell I'm paying 11-12€ for these.

3. Oh look, the deluxe cover for TRC 23. The one with Fujitaka.

*opens it*

*looks for brain-breaking*

*can't see nothing wrong. just sexy*

Whoa! It's been ages since I got this good brand of fanservice from these people! *gives single cookie to CLAMP. not more because she had seen the HOLiC schedule until December*

4. I want Peony/Jade fanart and fanfic so badly, but I don't know where to look for it. At least quality ones. Or recs. Or something.

Oh goodness, I still need to punch something before I explode. I just... I can't stand it.

But either way. Up to video 165 of TotA )

1. Now, Soul Eater is still pretty fun and funny to watch (on episode 16 now). Which is why I boggle at the lack of good humor and/or crack icons for it. Dammit, does that mean I'll have to do them myself? Bugger.

2. I played a bit of Earthbound (aka Mother 2) at the SNES emulator yesterday, until it froze right when exiting the cave beyond the shack behind Ness' hometown. Pity because it's quirky enough to keep me entertained and I've always been curious about the EB characters at Smash Bros games.

3. Late to a fandom usually means late to the party. Don't believe me? I just heard today of a thing called Tales of Fandom vol. 2. Which is basically a Phantasia/Symphonia/Abyss crossover in theory, but apparently it's mostly minigames and graphic novel. Obviously, this shit made of crack and eyecandy will never leave Japan. But what impressed me was the fact it appears to focus (in a particular game mode) on certain characters' backstories that were never that exploited on their original games.

For instance, in Symphonia's side, we have Kratos' story (fansubbed under the provided link). It's half of the game seen from Kratos' POV, which means... yes, plotholes are filled ♥ I'm not even a Kratos fan (far from it! I still can't believe I could digest over thirty minutes of him as a lead character) and I enjoyed and appreciated to see that stuff making sense finally. Bonus: Flashbacks with the Mithos-tachi. Tons of Mithos, Yuan, Zelos, and, believe it or not, Kate.

The Abyss plots are still unsubbed (the fansubbers seem to have taken a hiatus or something) although I think I can find them raw over youtube. Which makes me a Very Sad Panda. The first arc was flashbacks with Tear, which seems pretty interesting. BUT THE OTHER ONE IS LOW. Because it's Jade's fucking arc. JADE'S. And I'm dying inside. And did I mention both the Keterburg guys are all over that one? OF COURSE THEY ARE. Quite a lot of Peony. And the usual Dist abuse. I need at least a detailed summary of this thing like burning.

I also need good, clean screencaps of this thing. Or at least avi videos.

Okay, now to study.
